shai
Oh...I was going to say "If you plan to carry your computer around a lot consider getting a solid state HD," but you're not. SSDs sre fast, though. You can get a quality laptop for pretty cheap nowadays. For everyday use you don't need much more than, say, 3 GB of RAM, a 160 GB HD, a 15" screen, dual core processor, and DVD drive...I see laptops with those specs going for less than $500. shai
One huge advantage Macs have is the Applecare program. If you live near an Apple store you can take your computer in for pretty much anything (besides parts) and they'll fix you up for free.

I've owned a lot of different pcs, and they all eventually turned into shit* *windows could be the culprit tho... *nix based OS por vida holmes
shai
It's true, Apple doesn't cut corners on parts. They make you pay for them, though. As far as OS X goes it's not bad, I just don't care for it. I dual boot every computer I own with Windows and Linux but mainly use Windows. I like to use Linux once in a while to see if I can still do it, though. Picky P.
mac is fresh...no doubt. if you're in the market for pc's i'd recommend at least looking at the Dell refurb site. if you know what you're after you can browse for a week or even a couple of days and get some fucking awesome deals. you have to watch sometimes, 'cause shit turns over steadily but like i said...good deals if you're patient and know what you're after. just don't get any fucking vista..XP is the least shitty windows o/s you can have. DISTRACT
I forgot to mention it comes with a 2 year global warranty and a 1 year accidental damage warranty. So if you drop it or burn it or spill stuff on it they'll most likely replace the whole unit for you. WIN WIN

TootsieRoller
^^ You can actually only get a Macbook for $999, but with a student discount you can get it for $949 And if you're looking for a Macbook pro you can get it for $1099 with the student discount, plus a free iPod Touch. Just go here: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/education_routing & Enter College near where you live. They don't ask for verification or anything.
