Close, but no cigar.

A sniveling, teary-eyed suspect landed back in cuffs after he escaped from a Lower Manhattan police station yesterday, cops said.

"Please, don't beat me up," crybaby Orlando Reyes repeatedly whined as he was dragged back into the First Precinct station house in TriBeCa.

Dressed in a black t-shirt, jeans and white sneakers, Reyes, 21, was nabbed in front of 80 White Street -- about a half-mile from the precinct house on Ericsson Place near Varick Street, sources said.

Reyes, who was initially picked up for petit larceny, made a dash for freedom at 10:33 p.m. as he was boarding a bus headed to the central lockup, cops said.

He was re-arrested shortly afterwards and now faces additional charges of resisting arrest and escaping.
