war pigs Posted September 6, 2007 Share Posted September 6, 2007 well i'm sayin..i've seen the decline in freight service just from like 93/94 til now and how intermodal shipping companies are reducing the need for boxcars and stuff.. in the late 70s / early 80s there were a lot more businesses who got freight service and a lot more railroad companies operating in NJ... CRUSH KILL DESTROY Posted September 7, 2007 Share Posted September 7, 2007 there actually isnt a decline in freight traffic but like warpigs said its just shifting focus to intermodul. why? i feel it lays with our greedy corporate exucutives, and no backed bone politicians who allow sending our manufacturing jobs overseas. many of the products that used to be transported by boxcar from american factories are now being made by slave labor then delivered from overseas on container ships, from the containers on the ship they get placed directly into the intermodals then sent cross country to intermodal distribution hubs that pick up the containers then place them on waiting trucks...thus bypassing the boxcar completely. fuckin bullshit.
