A worker's idea of respect is usually to avoid painting trains at all. They also don't trust vandals to rewrite the numbers correctly. In this thread, they have a point - whoever rewrote the UPFE numbers forgot the first digit (all UPFEs in the standard gold scheme have 6-digit numbers starting with 4). Basically, don't waste your time trying to avoid the stamp by writing the car number somewhere else. They don't buy it.
