so i found some cool shoe/boots today at an estate sale.
the brand is weeds by florsheim, as far as i can tell they were made in the 70s, but they're comfy and really well made.
question: whats the best way to clean up gum soles? they're just grimy and old...
if you have a decent local shoe maker / repairer guy in your town he’d probably fix them up for a couple of clams (dollars)

Secretly enjoying this.. how many of you have been burnt! Young (25 and under) girls ARE crazy (unless theyre still on some student council, conservatives or nerds / losers of any kind) yes.. I really like this story.
I don't mind that the original analysis came from a 13 year old, I find it interesting all the same. More so that it is now being further investigated by academics and educators.
The topic deserves attention and her understanding of it deserves credit.

I absolutely agree parents should be more involved… I recently learnt some parents don't even teach their kids to read! They just wait for the school system to take over. How sad is that?
Here was an opportunity to address an area that obviously requires attention and grow from it, but instead they shut her out. Ignoring a problem and, at the same time insulting her intelligence.
Only 19% of eighth graders at that school are proficient in language... Thats awful! What a great opportunity to revise and improve. I think so anyway.

I'm doing trend research for F/W 2013/14 (which basically means looking at stuff for a long time) and there's a strong focus on modest, humble, artisanal workmanship. Slow development, revaluing vintage and functional design.
