  1. acetone is a no go for some pen types. it partially dissolves the plastic casing and you end up with black ink that seems grainy and wont stick to things. once again, SOME brands of pens. the same goes for methyl ethyl ketone. these two chemicals are made for dissolving polymers and resins. acetone is used mostly for "cleaning" certain chemicals, but i find it to do the most good in binding two chemicals that normally wouldnt bond in a solution. also, xylene is about the slowest drying solvent you can use in the paint world. says so right on the back of the tin. be seeing you.

  8. dude i have a tough little bunch of decos that i refill all day with this big jagermeister bottle of silver colorplace. that shit is like fucking worth its weight in gold right now cuz they just dont make that shit anymore. i filled it, evapped most of the solvent, added pure xylene and acetone and bam, shit is golden. i got like an eigth of the batch left. so supplies are low, but like, these days the fuckin decos dont have as much paint as they used to. they are like 1/3 full.

  20. thats great. glad to have helped. *ahem*
  21. dont mix it with anything. i put it in there full thickness. UNLESS..... unless you have a bunch of acrylic paint lying around in a certain color you that you would want to tint the oil based enamel with, in which case, add the acrylic to the oil based paint with a spoonful or more mustard powder or egg yolk. as egg yolk can lead to salmonella if not refrigerated, i suggest using the mustard powder. it creates an emulsion so oil and water can mix. yes it works, yes all the time. when you perfect this technique, come back and i will tell you about kikkoman light soy sauce and the almighty pwn ink.
