see, it depends on the situation. if your battery is low, and you want to turn the car on, the alternator wont do you any good. Plus, the battery does not charge all the way by simply going to a place. You actually have to travel long ways before the batterie is full charged. Thats why we say that the alternator does not charge the battery. It might do so, but wont help you at a time when you really need it.

 

We test batteries as well. We use the multi Meter, and we have a tester where you take acid out and see where it stands.

we also open up the alternators and see the components inside and try to fix them. we get alot of people during the winter time, but mostly to replace batteries, Oh other side note.. .

 

Your AC not only takes up gas, but battery power as well, making it harder for the alternartor. I had to replace my alt cus of my system. I could of bought a capacitor, but why have more wires? Sha Bam!
