Not directed towards anyone .. just something in general after all the " no one does fills" comments .....But

15 colors in a fill are not going to make a lame piece become fresh . You can not just step to the wall and drop some garbage letters and then go throw 12 hooks off of each letter and then call it dope. Letter structure is key , the study of typography can do wonders to someone that has no idea how letters are built, and built off each other. Most "good" typefaces take years of research and trial and error before they can become legitimate. In saying so , graffiti is letters , straight letters, so to get a good base to build from, one must know how they are built. So to do a one or maybe two color fill shows that he who performs such a task is not trying to hide a weak letter, or whole piece for that matter with some crazy fill that when done makes the piece barely legible. Dont get me wrong , some people can pull of nice fills and still have clear, legible letters , but at the same time I see others not pulling it off at all. Any decent writer can head to a wall with a backpack of only white and blacks and straight burn the place down. Its a little something called "STYLE" ...

on an "off the soapbox" note , some nice new additions.

i say, despite the negative undertones (this cats jail time,

the mayor still hating on graffiti, the fact this cat basically

put up a white flag) im just happy to see the connecticut

post publishing an article w/ the the subject being graff

and them actually acknowledging the fact there are

positive aspects to graffiti; as opposed to the hartford courant

and fox 61 where they shit on graff all day long.

it is good to see the administration

showing more tolerance for a slandered

art form though. maybe they're actually

opening up their minds. or maybe im a sucker.
