"Homebrew" applications and games are those that are created by enthusiastic programmers and made available as freeware for everyone else to experiment with and use. Currently Sony has been preventing homebrew on the PSP with their firmware updates. Hopefully Sony will allow homebrew developers to take advantage of the presence of Linux on the hard drive.
