RumPuncher
oh this makes me really mad at George W. Bush... JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA - Twelve people died, several more were injured and about 18 others were taken hostage Monday when gunmen attacked the U.S. Consulate in the Saudi city of Jeddah. From a Canadian News Source None of the people who died were American, though several U.S. citizens were slightly injured, officials said. Five non-American staff members were killed in the clash, along with four members of the Saudi security forces and three of the gunmen. President George W. Bush immediately blamed the attack on Islamic militants, saying "terrorists are still on the move" as they try to get the U.S. to leave Iraq and other Persian Gulf countries. "They want us to grow timid and weary in the face of their willingness to kill randomly, kill innocent people," he said in the Oval Office following a meeting with interim Iraqi president Ghazi al-Yawer. "That's why these elections in Iraq are very important." (what the fuck????????) Five attackers armed with machine guns entered the consulate in Jeddah at about 11 a.m. local time Monday, after firing at security guards and throwing explosives at the gate of the heavily fortified compound. Saudi forces arrested the two gunmen who were injured but not killed in the three-hour confrontation that followed. About 18 people were taken hostage, mostly Sudanese and Indian citizens seeking visas, but the American diplomatic staff managed to make it to safety, according to a U.S. official based in Riyadh. The hostages were released when the last two militants were arrested. "We have accounted for all Americans on the compound in Jeddah and none of them are being held hostage," U.S. Embassy spokesperson Carol Kalin told the Associated Press. "We have a local work force that was on duty and we are still in the process of accounting for [them]." I bet the white house is glad the censored all those pages from the 9/11 comission that had somethng to do with Saudis. I BET that there would be some simple cross-referencing between those blacked out pages and the recent attack in Saudi Arabia. after all...... it wasns't the Saudis who brought down the Towers!
!@#$%
haha this doesn't remind me of Iran at all. "TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- The familiar cries of "Death to America" and "Death to Israel" rang through the streets of Tehran on Thursday as tens of thousands of Islamic students rallied to mark the 20th anniversary of the takeover of the U.S. Embassy. Fifty-two embassy employees were held captive there for 444 days, ending as Ronald Reagan took the oath of office as the United States' 40th president, replacing Jimmy Carter, during whose administration the crisis began.
