thanks for the picture bob, im suprised that sticker is even up, i slapped it up so sloppily and randomly on my way to get a slice of pizza...anyway, nice pictures.

im doing an interview with philadelphia weekly and, since, once again, this is the only thread i bother with on the whole site, i figure ill give you guys a preview

First off, tell me more about why the Philly scene is

so vicious?

the philadelphia "traditional graffitti" scene is known for the no nonsense approach to the work. these guys churn out some of the nicest stuff ive seen, and their hearts are 100% into it. with that much dedication to their work, they do not want to deal with kids who put up one or two pieces and expect for everyone to know and love them.

Who are the major players?

i dont really follow the graff. scene that well, but the people i cant help but notice in and around philadelphia and have to give props too are AGENT, DASAR, CESE and PROSAR. Moving away from "traditional graffiti" and more into "street art" i have to give credit to BOB WILL REIGN, EL TORO, and PERRO, you cant walk down a street in philly without seeing work by these guys.

Where are the best spots to do stenciling? What are

some of the best stencils (and where are they)?

the best spot to put up a stencil is, obviously, a place where you can do it quickly without drawing TOO much attention to yourself, but still make sure its seen by a majority of the public. I'd say most of the top notch stencil work comes from over seas, mostly out of Melbourne, Australia...guys like PRISM, SIXTEN, RONE, HAO, BANKSY, these guys are definitally my main source of inspiration, they are always pushing the envelope, always going bigger and better.

Why do you do stencils?

i've always been interested in graffitti, but you can only go so far with letters, and it seems, to me at least, stencils open up a whole new spectrum of ways to express ideas. when it comes down to it, im not into this for fame, or any of that, i just like the fact that some random person walking down the street could stumble across one of my pieces, and maybe take their mind off of what they need to have done for work or what bills they need to pay, and just look at my work and take whatever they want out of it. if people dont like it, then its simply not for them, i do this because i feel like leaving my mark but also having people gain from it at the same time.

i havent even sent these replys back to the lady, we are going to talk over the phone sometime too...

if anyone i mentioned has any pictures they definitally want me to use, e-mail me at evolveandestroy@hotmail.com and ill send them to her

nothing personal against you bro, but wtf?! aren't there some more important issues in philly than stickers?

maybe cheesesteaks..maybe

come on, we deserve some recognition after all the work we've put in. if you saw philly youd see why they want an interview.:D

all the work you've put in? not to take anything away from your guys whole deal, if it makes you happy, cool, but putting up stickers is not 'putting in work'. i'm willing to bet crnot still has 3 tags for every sticker you guys have put up. does he get an interview? does sic get an interview? agua? i'll bet i still have more white out tags on sign posts and parking meters than yuo guys have stickers.

again, i'm not trying to start some stupid ass argument about what is graff or blah blah blah, i dont care, if you're happy, cool, be happy. i just would never view putting up stickers as being 'news worthy'. the fact that i also think its become entirely formulaic and uninspired doesnt help me to care much more either.

if it makes you feel better, i feel the same way about 3d styles and kaws, so maybe you'll all make a million dollars off your stickers soon.

btw,

anyone that gets all defensive will be banned just out of spite. i'm not trying to start an argument, i'm simply intelligently stating my opinion.

i shouldn't have to say that, but i know how you gets get.

like a pack of rabid squirrels.

im sure i have more stickers up than u put up white out tags...i put up over 100 each time, and God knows how many times ive been out. (same for el toro and perro, they put in lots)...anyways, the "public" would be more likely to interview us than writers anyway because of all the negative shit they get...its something that cannot be helped. thats ashame because they deserve recognition too. especially crnot, and by the way, he told me he likes what we're doing and to keep it up. but i am happy, and you should be more positive and open minded (dont take this offensively, im not one to argue)

theres nothing really to argue about, nor am i being 'closed minded'. just because i dont find the same merrit in something, that doesn't mean i dont understand it. infact, since i can give you a detailed explanation of exactly why i feel the things i do, i have a fairly good understanding of it. it's just a difference of oppinion, thats all.

never the less, good luck with all that.

and i'll conceede that if you're putting literally 100 stickers every time you go out, that yes, you have far more stickers than i have tags. depending on where i was going, the method of transportation and the time of day, i would only average between 5 and 25. ;) you win.
