  1. The only other people I recall being there with camera's on the morning this pulled out was Wane and Lace. I have never seen Lace's shots. In fact I never saw Lace again after that morning. I am very surprised to see a shot of this in CI yard . I never knew other shots existed of these cars other then what was photographed at Ft Hamilton Pkwy. I was only able to capture close up long Henry Chalfant type connector shots on the station.. I would love to have caught photos of all the cars from a distance like this one you posted. Their were 4 more cars painted on the right of this set that were broken off when this photo was taken. Thanks for posting it.
  2. Oh shit I never seen this shot before! This is part of the Easter 1988 Whole Train we did with 357. They broke off 5 of the cars on the left of the Lace. Whose photo is this NYC is Dead 106?
  3. The bottom half of the Ven is Cascade Green. Lemon Yellow Rusto in the top half. Utilac, that's crazy. I don't even recall ever having or using any cans from that brand. So that is for sure news to me. @Zed. I don't think the monitor screen has anything to do with the color. My shots are on a computer screen look correct. I agree with Pharoah on Jungle Green, that color though nice was a watery mess. Not durable when going over other graff. For the most I'd skip over it while racking. A little disclaimer here. This car was done in early 1987; Though obvious, Web did the outline for mine. I was not comfortable with having a go on my own when painting with someone of his caliber. I was the designated the filler inner on this car. This would be the last time anyone would paint outlines on a car for me.
  4. I would put that money back in your pocket if I was you. The color in those pictures are very off. That is Jungle Green around the Web and background behind the Ven is Fed Green. You cats are all over the Jungle Green but it's all about the Cascade Green in the Ven piece. That was the hottest and rarest color on the car at the time this was painted.
  5. RIP MIKE , You are forever immortalized in graffiti. No one can ever take that crown from you and or all our memories away of you.
  6. Damn you cats stole that rooftop shot of Him, Ser, Ven off my flickr profile in less then 24 hours. LOL. Bunch of junkies.
  7. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff The reason that car is so colorful is because my wholecar from that unfinished wholetrain pic a few pages back is ragged underneath it. It was nice to momentarily reclaim that train back until the next round of dogging took place. LOL. Also luckily on the BMT's we did not have that problem with people inking the outsides of the cars like they did at Kingston on the 2's & 5's.
  8. It was common knowledge in the 80's that Stay High was a black dude. In the last few years photos of the original Stay High tagging peoples black books at gallery shows have appeared on the internet. So I'm a confused to why the imposter is having his card pulled now in 2008 This is definitely a strange story.
  9. RIP Not sure who to credit this photo to but I caught this running back in the day as well. I just dont have access to scan my shots at this time.
  10. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff Well that can be subjective in some writers eyes. Alot of shit went down in the past with people, even though its almost twenty years after the fact, I've caught hate on other graff sites a few years back from a few writers from my generation. I get along with most writers but their are few who I'm still quite sure hate me. I was never about beef with people back then as I was more into the movement itself then coming at some territorial gangster perspective but shit would happen just from simple shit like guilt by association or someone going over you first. It was what is was. Hopefully everyone viewing this thread from past & present can leave the drama out and just post flicks unbiasedly so that present & future generation can learn what subway style from NYC was all about
  11. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff I do not let it bother me anymore. I just don't like when people on certain graff websites put watermarks on photos I've taken. If you don't hold the original negative of the shot then how can you put a watermark on it? Flickr also pisses me off a bit because people start accounts and then it looks like it's their flicks they are posting. In here its all good. People are just posting what they find out and about on the net and at home. No problems with me on that. In fact I got a couple cool things myself out this thread already. For example that Daze next to the Kos within the last page or so I never seen before. I had the Kos already and its cool to have the rest of it now. If my flicks are out there then they are out there. Post em up. I have enough exclusive shit like the rest of us who benched daily that Im not stressing it. So keep on posting!!!
  12. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff No problems on the telling some stories behind some of the pics. One thing is I don't want to divert this thread into my storytelling adventures. So I might skip out some conversation unless I feel like giving some props to writers who were underrated and maybe just maybe one day I will do a book on graff from the way I saw it from my camera lense back then.
  13. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff Ok the story on this was this was the second attempt to doing a wholetrain at 57st layups. The first mission in Autumn of 1987 went unsuccessful when the motorman and conductor came and pulled the train out in the middle of what we were doing. They workers were actually cool and gave us a few minutes to let us throw quick outlines on it. Ghost however jumped inside the train as they went to pull it out and pulled two emergency brakes just to give us a few more minutes to try and complete as much as possible. I remenber the motorman telling us they had a job to do and that they didnt want to call the police on us but were going to have to if we did it again. So we repsected that and left. This hurried mess was a result of that sitaution. The pictures you are asking about was the second attempt to pull a 10 wholecar train off. This was done right before X-mas 1987 . On this mission it was Ghost, Tekay , Ven , Omni , Wane & Sento. This mission went uncomplete because we ran out of paint. That left the completion of 8 1/2 cars wholecars. Just when it was bad enough to run out of paint things got worse. The whole crew left except for Sento who decided to stay. While he was down there finishing up on his wholecar , 357 crew rolled in. At the time RIS had war with 357. This resulted in RD and crew crossing out four seperate cars painted by Ghost, Ven & Omni cars. Omni wasnt RIS but also had beef with 357. After 357 left Sento tried to fix up the Ven but it was too ragged to fix with the limted amount of paint Sento had left.. They totally destroyed the Omni piece and Ghost had some lines through his pieces. The next day the train made one in service trip to Coney Island where it was then taken to the yard where the set was broken up and the windows clean. These shots were at the the base of the track that goes in the yard. The train sat that for quite awhile while we scaled the fence and got more closer shots. A few months down the road RIS & 357 put and to their differences. This would create a finsihed whole train between 357/RIS. The first finished 10 whole car train since Lee did it back in 1977. This was done on Easter 1988.
  14. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff Nah I dont hate them silvers...I just don't like the fact that they are not my outlines. So I don't like taking full credit for them. Then again I'm not going to complain because I think Mesh was really dope with it. So it is what is and I was there filling them in. I learned alot about painting from people like Mesh, Reas & Pure during that 85-86 period.
  15. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff Their has been discussion amongst members of RIS/AOK/AMW about doing a book in the past. I think it will happen one day. Perhaps when I'm bored of what I'm doing currently with my life I will find the time to do something as far as a book is concerned.
  16. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff That other story was quite similar except it involved a little red bird. It happened a few weeks later towards the end of 1988 with Magoo & I. This was during the very end of the graff on Subways on the 2&5's, We went to Utica at 10AM not knowing whether a bombed train or clean train would be parked in there. We spent two hours painting that little red bird. Then went home , cleaned up , ate some lunch and came back to Utica Station for the evening rush hour. The train pulled out and made one full in service trip during the evening rush to the Bronx. Magoo & I rode it all the way from Utica to Dyre Ave to flick it. It was alot of fun watching people's expression when the car pulled in the station. It was like "oh no" they're painting these cars now too.
  17. While you cats debate about painting engines. Im going to prop that Baby 168 piece next to Pepe's joint. Baby 168 is a NYC subway legend from the early 80's. To see a burner from him on a freight just fried my mind.
  18. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff Nah G.h.o.p....Maybe your thinking of Ask which was another name Pure wrote. @Labrat. No problem on the stories. So many stories so many missions. Some which I forgot This mission stuck in my head as I had only hit Utica Ave twice and remember both times very accuarately. @Q718...Thanks, that looks much crisper now. Now if that was only a way to unblur the pic a bit. Is their and unblurrer?
  19. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff I posted this awhile ago somewhere online and it got slutted around but I have'nt seen it posted here. Its a really rare photo from yours truly & the only one that exists with the windows painted while the train was flying by out of service thorugh Baychester Ave in the Bronx during the evening rush hour a few hours after it was done. It was painted in Utica Ave layup on the 4& 5's in late 1988 on a weekday between rush hours. Unfortunately it was a bit disrespected in the Kingston Ave layups in Brooklyn the following day when few local writers did floater throwups that nicked both pieces. That and the acid chemicals they used to clean the windows leaves this photo as the only one in existance where the pieces are not ruined. The "And" piece is by "Magoo2". Magoo just brings it... One of my favorite writers of all time.
  20. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff Nah that is one of the old time mid 70's kings of bombing...Jester TC crew AKA DY 167. This dude straight out had the nastiest handstyle ever...and was all city from the IRT's to the BMT's to the IND's. Before my time but still had shit running in the insides and tunnels in my era. From the best of my knowledge he was from Brooklyn.
  21. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff I'm taking the photograhpy credit for these two. First one is a Magoo , Ven t2b on the B line. 1988 Second one is a Ven Cro Magoo on the Franklin Ave Shuttle. 1988.
  22. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff All I will say is I know of certain someone who is la familia to me who publishes books and I know he is working on some real deal shit. Just give it some time, people who have not gotten there due will get there's.
  23. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff well aren't we all..but surely some are holding out\. All I will say is there is a ton of shit out there , that chances you will never see....or you just gotta wait till the book comes out. Whose book i'm not quite sure because it seems everyone wants do a book. I just hope those that do a book froze their motherfucking nuts off benching...respect to those who weathered the days below freezing at East Tremont, Intergrale, 18th Ave(Bklyn) and all the other spots we benched on a cold hard day.. You know who you are! and even more to those who benched 10 sets on the BMT's to catch one whole car back in 84
  24. Re: NYC Subways - the good stuff While your looking for" Dreams Don't Die", I'm looking for a made for TV movie about the Guardian Angels that has some sick BMT J line graff from circa 1980. Anyone?
