rescue 911 and unsolved mysteries really fucked with my head as a young child. i was certain that i would be involved in some horrible accident or mishap and then have a film crew trying to film me as people were trying to rescue me.
and i figured that all the people on unsolved mysteries were desperate criminals who wanted the money in my piggy bank, so i set booby traps outside my door ala home alone.

Voodoo- Reality and Fantasy. (i think thats what it was called)
Race Traitor. about modern race relations, i read it in one day.
anything by bell hooks, i really find her stance on racism and feminism to be refreshingly realistic and applicable.
Rabelais and his world- mikhail bakhtin. really hard to grasp without studying it your whole life, but really interesting.

the town that i live in is fucckkked up. there are really bad drug and alcohol abuse problems, and high unemployment... it has made the news twice in the past year, once because it flooded, and a second time because a german tourist was hacked up and left in a shopping trolley in the supermarket carpark. no shit.

i live across the street from a bunch of ecstasied up ravers. i swear to god, the have a big ass stereo system and they play the most ridiculous trance music all day and night. its loud inside our house it must be fucking insane inside their place. i havent had the gall to call the cops on them yet, but when semester starts and im trying to sleep or study i will have no hesitation to call them.
