  1. steve that's what cross is all about im jealous tho i don't get to race till this weekend....i just 115$$ on a UCI license...im racing with the pro's this weekend in deleware i'll give the race report on monday..
  2. i hit a dog this morning on my bike.... i feel sorry for the dog tho b/c it's always chained up outside this one house and today it's broke the chain or it came out of the ground and it chased me and the 2 guys i was riding with and i was at the back and it got in between me and the other two guys so i slowed down a bit and it started to get tired so i tried to sprint by it and it turned quick and i just nailed it in the midsection and i went down...and my cleat got stuck in my peddle and i had to take the whole peddle apart to get my shoe out my bike is fine...but i could smell the dog right before i hit it and after i hit it and it went home i could still smell it....im sure the dog is always out there...hell if i were a chained up dog i would chase after anything that went by...im going to call the animal patroll people and let them know that the dog was in bad shape and the owners need to be talked too...and my bibs gots a hole in them now..
  3. i would but it wont let me...im planning on going to PA for a few races and some in north carlonia and if all goes as planned nationals..
  4. steve..where are you racing this weekend my season doesn't start untill the 20th
  5. i was remounting on the bike durring my cross ride and the bult exploded... so i had the pleasure of riding 15min home with no seat...cross is too hard on the bike
  6. http://www.pinarello.com/images/pop_up/dogma_gold.jpg'> OMG!!!!!!!
  7. payroll good thinking....i like you...go buy a nice bike
  8. ive got two friends with Casati MU:2 Sc/Al frame they are beautiful you can acctually push in on the frame and see it move...
  9. ive know a few people with those bikes and they have been pleased i'd say the 1600$ is the better... or just go to several bike shops in your area and be like i have 2000$ so spend on a bike give me the best bike you can and see what the other shops have to offer and bargon(sp) a bit i was able to get 12 hours in on the bike last week 3 of which were on the cyclocross bike...races are starting 3-4 weeks..i hoping that my dad and i go up to PA oct. 6th for a race but it's far away
  10. ive been riding too much...and my grades are suffering....oh well
  11. i did my first real cross ride yesterday...it weird when youve been riding your roadbike all summer then you get on your cross bike and it feels so different...but first race is in 6 weeks in baltimore (monkey hill) and nationals are in napa vallie Ca dec. 13th and 14th which really sucks b/c that's my exam week so im going to have to be reallynice to my teachers so i can move some of them around...but it looks like the school is going to pay for me to fly out there and race
  12. steve my dad had the same problem and he was able to get a full refund on the back wheel (he didn't have any problems with the front one so he kept it)
  13. i did a 40K timetrail today....i few on the way out but on the way back it was hard to maintain 22mph...i ended up finishing with a time of an hour and a 4 minutes which isn't that bad. ive never done a 40k befor...oh well
  14. dibs... monday's untill i start racing...once i start racing im going to take monday's easy... a fairly flat ride..90min to 105min with 3, 5-10minutes of tempo riding (tempo riding is when you don't spinn, i just put the gear a bit harder maybe two or three rings down the usual..this helps with your muscular strenght in you legs...when you spinn it's more muscular endurance) make sure you have a good warm up before you start them...and you become better fit you can make the tempo riding longer or have less inbetween them. tuesday am...20-25 min. running tuesday pm ... im on the crossbike..usually do a nice 10 min. warmup then ride a cross loop...(if you don't have a cyclocross loop near you see if you can find a park or soccer complex and ride around it see if you can find hill to run up...or if you don't have that dirt roads are also really good) so 10min warm up and an 65min. on the cross bike then a 5-10 min cool down. wednesday.... on the road bike again...i go moderate for 30-40 min then i do a series of hill repeats. ( i have this hill that is just a wall it's .3 miles long it's perfect) usualy 5 of them...if your hill is longer do less or shorter do more then ride home at a moderate pase... total time around 90 min to 110min. thursday am 20-25 min. run thursay p.m. same as tuesday. friday...hmmm that hardest day to ride....usually what ever i feel like doing sometime i'll do a really hard 60min (after a 10min warm upp) or i'll do a nice 90min ride...it's your call sat. just a nice ride with friends....120min to 135min sunday.... same as sat. this maybe a lot to handle if this is your first time racing cross..this will be my 4th season of cross. i'd say if this is your first time racing cross just try to get out there and ride 5-6 days a week cross races are short so you don't really need to go on 3 hour rides (which is nice) just do 90min rides everday of the week and then get on the cross bike 2-3 time a wee just to work on tech. and the handelign of the bike also runnign is so important...i know it's the worst but it helps so much...b/c you use different muscles when you run and the barriers can make or brake a race. and once i start racing i'll change the weekend ride b/c i'll be racing and the monday ride will become an hour of just an easy ride..(average speed being 14-15 miles. just have fun
  15. ahh i justed my second year of college...college life it good...i have so much time to ride
  16. dibs if youre in love with the bike now just wait untill you do a cross race..then it becomes and addiction
  17. steve...my dad just replaced his ritchy wheels with mavic open pro' (28 spoke) with a dura-ace hub. he says they are a solid fairly light wheel. so go with the open pro's
  18. steve...oh i can smell the cross season..ive been geting in one dirt trail ride on the cross bike a week. and my dad had ritchy wheel and he broke spokes all the time and he got so fed up that he sent the wheel back and got a full refund on it..it was only the back wheel that he had trouble with the front one is fine...
  19. i finally named my bike...it's KAYLA i really like that name and i don't know anyone with the name so i figure it's a good one...that's also going to be my first daughters name do you guys have names for you bikes?
  20. i always enjoy reading jokers race reports i did a triathlon yesterday the same course as the one i did in june...i felt strong i beat my old time by a solid minutes (i think i made the time up in the swimm) i think i got 9th over all im just waiting for school to start ...only 3 weeks then i can live the simple life of going to classes and riding my bike... work has been eating away at my training time my little brother (age 11) went to the junior national road race this past weekend....in the road race age 10-12 on sat. he finished 10th out of 21 riders. i was very impressed and he was the 3rd 11 year old across the line...then on sunday in the timetrial he finished 7th in the 10-12 age group....man im jelouse i wish i had a the oppurtunity to race in big races when i was his age.. but man when i get the picks back of his race i'll post him up...i was unable to go to the race but my dad got pics and he road the time trail with an areo helmet and a disc wheel in the back and areo bars...ah i sure he was a site to see
  21. im so mad i don't think i'll be able to get any sleep urban...im from richmond...i don't know if your into bike or not but if you are hit me up with an email
  22. howdy all...i haven't been home much this past week. but i did get in 75 miles on the bike only being able to ride 3 days i had a bunch of work stuff going on and a girl i knew i died on tuesday and shit just made me sick to my stomach she was 17 years old and drunk with her freind also drunk driving and they crashed and she died and the driver is in a comma...shit really makes you appriciate life and all you have...so be smart out there and dont ride drunk either.... but next week should be good my little brother (11) is going down to clemson GA for junior nationals on aug. 4th im not going to be able to go b/c of work any way you have to be a cat 1/2 to race in the espior (19-23) and im far from that but i'll let you know how he does. lance is hard as nails
  23. joker... i am coming off of a 5 week rest from cycling. well atleast on the weekdays i road some on the weekends. on the week days i swam and ran but today was my first day back on the bike and i felt great granted i only rode for 2 mile some 65 min. but my days has said that resting for several weeks can be a great thing...instead of carring with you all those little injurys and sorness you give your body time to heal...i remember once when i broke my leg and i didn't skateboard for some 6 weeks when i healed up i was pulling all the same trickes as when i had to stop it has something to do with muscle memory... (sorry about the spelling my girly is bugging me and im not thinkging)
  24. it's tempting my bike shop worked out a deal for the team .... i get this bike for 1100...i know the components are not the best but i can switch my components around and get ultegra on there.. http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/02/cusa/mo...model-2XR8.html
  25. steve go to cross nationals....i'll be there about the bike...i say go with the Bianchi when you ride a lighter bike you go over the barriers so much faster and use less energy. and cross bikes take such a beating durring the season youre better off going with the better componites they will last longer i start my cross specific training in two weeks... ive been resting the past 4 weeks ive just been running and swimming a lot latly... my dad made up a training schedule for me i haven't really looked at it yet but it involves a lot of intervils. and riding the cross bike once a week for the first 6 weeks...i can't wait.
