  3. Hello, cinnamon I'm contacting you in behalf of our company, Fortusa (Fort frames) because someone recommended you highly to us, and we're always on the lookout for good riders to help with sponsorships. Although most of these activities are focused on teams now rather than individuals, we hear you're a great prospect and we'd like to talk with you about possibly riding our bikes. So, if you're at all interested in working with us, I'd appeciate it if you could send an email with resume and/or whatever you could tell us about yourself and your plans. You could also telephone, if you wish: 800-686-####, ask for Gregg. We are also working on a plan to form an elite cyclocross team for next season, concentrating on the MAC series and major Eastern cross events. I assume you know my good friend Gunnar Shogren, who's a familiar figure out there. You know, with Cross being a short season and somewhat obscure, big-time support for individuals or teams is scarce, but we think that we'll have a fun group together next season and hopefully we'll be able to support them in a meaningful way. And, furthermore, our bikes are outstanding performers, too. Anyway, please get back to me if any of this sounds interesting to you. i got this eamil on sunday.. wrote dude back on monday but haven't heard back from him. i have 3 weeks till my first race....
  4. i was worried we would have to start another one up
  5. its been snowing for the past few days...
  6. well this week i got 10hrs and 35min in... pretty lucky this time of the year. as far as a training schedule for the winter my dad and have talked about. is first just getting out and riding 5 to 6 days a week the next thing i am to work on is not nessasarly get in hard killer miles but just solid base miles and doing them in a slighty harder gear to build up some good leg stregth another key my dad thinks that will help is doing lots of climbing.. today i road for 3 hours with my dad a few others and hour of the ride was one climb.. insainly steep (its a dirt road we did it on the cross bikes) we just cranked climb out and just kept it steady and really trying to stay seated and use the legs. I start racing 7th or 9th of march for the colleigent series which lasts till the second weekend of may with nationals being out in berkley CA, which i doubt i'll be able to make it too. i guess the key, for me, with the winter training starting is just getting in the miles and on a consistent basis with lots of climbing. I should add that i am on winter break from college and don't have to go 13th of jan. so finding time to ride is not a problem for me. yeah i know lucky.. i am also lifting weights 3 days a week (upper body) and legs 2 days a week
  7. bump for it's being 56 and sunny out and being able to ride with no gloves or botties and knee warmers.... i was in heaven.. now i get to take a lady out and my dads letting me drive the WRX..
  8. this cutter is better at riding his bike then drawing...
  9. steve... i didn't get a chance to make it out there.. between not enough money and exams. my dad tells me we will not let me miss another nationals... i still have 3 more races to go but im finding hard to get out there and train in this 30 degree weather... i say yes on the tshirt
  10. dibs... sounds as if you got a lot of rain the past few days it rained 12 inches in 2 days for cyclocross nationals. yay for winter riding... joker whats your status
  11. yeah we got nailed with snow but racing went on anyway sat. in PA 10 inches of snow on the ground i really hope they get some pics of this race up i raced my heart out and ended up 9th... sun... in maryland also 10 inches of snow on the ground..but by the time i got to race it was a complete mud fest well i didn't have a great start..and i got behind a few slow riders and i crashed a bunch and droped my chain...i had to fight like hell to work my up..i finally caught up to bobby lea who i have beaten in every race this year. i finally caught up to him with 2 laps to go we kind went back and forth between leading..but he was riding the race of his life and when it came down to the end he got a good enough gap on me and i couldn't close it on the final hill finish.. no worries he raced well..i still ended up 10th for the MAC cup series i finished up 16th in the elite men and first espior (19-23) i was very pleased and the season is pretty much over for me i have the va state champs coming up end of dec. i think i have 4 more races to do but none of them mean much..but i may have a chance of winning some b/c they are local races... steve...wrx...oh man...it's sex on wheels it's so fast and so nice.. what color are you getting? my dads is the wrx rally blue. im still not allowed to drive it alone...and i think the wagon looks better... good luck with the car..it's a lot to handle
  12. damn that was some good reading....i wish i could remember my races in such detail...im too brain dead while racing... this weather is killing me it's been 28 degrees it doesn't up or down just 28 it's too cold...and now this storm is coming and bringing lots of snow...i hope the wrx can make it up to PA for the race on sat.
  13. two races last weekend... sat. harrisburg pa... regional cup beautiful day with a even more beautiful course... 25 started in my race...i started out with an okay start not bad but not a good one the feild stayed together for much of the first lap i held tight passing when i could by the start of the 2nd lap i was running 12th..pass one guy nice and easy on the run up. it took me another whole lap to catch the next guy up i caught up to him and sucked his wheel through the flats to get a rest in and then made my move on the dismount and slowly pulled away. i road much if the next lap alone.. ahead of me were two riders together...one being joey thompson one of the top juniors out there (18years old). It took me another lap and much incouragement from the anoucer and with 3 laps to go i finally made contact with them. i road with them for a bit but they really weren't going that hard and the man i passed was catching up so when we all looked at each other like who's going to pull i said f it and made my move through the winding section and flew over the barriers joey was able to hang onto my back wheel but the other guy didn't have it in him...coming up was a long flat section ending in a short steep climb i pulled it as hard as i could through it all but couldn't shake joey we went back and forth for the remander of the lap when we made it to the dismount run up i got the gap i need and never looked backed ... by the time i came around for the bell lap i had 30 sec. on joey and the guy i passed a while ago gave it one hell of a surge and cought joey and passed him i spend the last lap pushing every section i could and trying to not make any mistakes i can across the line in 8th place....it was the best race ive had all season and with a cash prize of 80$ it was more then worth it... i also moved up to 20th in the MAC series... sunday reston va well im glad i had all my bad luck during the local race and not the one on sat. i crashed twice dropped the chain twice. but still came in 4th..there wasn't too much compatition... racked in 25$ and ended up 3rd in the va cyclocross series.. next weekend im back in pa and then in md
  14. steve good stuff..sucks the chain had to drop....keep it rockin page 4?......... cross race in harrisburg pa....i think the high is 35 or so...it's going to be fun
  15. damn hesh don't sell the bike... man ive had a good week riden all but monday got a 2 hour ride in on sat, and another 2 hour ride in today...it's was 60 and blue skies the whole way.. no races for me this weekend next weekend i'll be in harrisburg pa then one in reston va...
  16. there isnt' too much to this race report. it was the same course as last weekend with one minor change..about 4 inches of mud well good old virginia red clay. i had another great start at the begininning of the race but it was a real crap shoot b/c the mud was so thick that sometimes you'd fine the right path and others you wouldn't me and two other guys were off the front for the first two laps...i was feeling good just trying to hang on..one of the guys droped his chain and i put on a pretty hard attack it took a complete lap for him to catch back up to me..we road together for a good half lap then i crashed/slipped in the damn mud and it cost me 2nd place..i chased the rest of the race but the mud took so much out of my legs that i couldn't really bridge the gap...im happy with 3rd and im currently 4th in va state cyclocross series and the final race is in reston va and the guy currently in 3rd place is going to be unable to make it :o i really hope someone took some pics of the race...i have never ridden in such a muddy race...you couldn't tell i was white when i finished the race
  17. dibs..nice work...flats will kill you but they happen.. what was the name of your race..was it part of the redline series? anyway good stuff glad you enjoyed yourself...im still trying to move exams around so i can make it to nappa valley...is it near you by anychance?
  18. yet another cyclocross race under my belt... my bike club put on the race so i had to show my stuff... i don' t know how it happened but it did i got the whole shot..i lead the first 2/3rds of the first lap.. at the end of the first lap i was in the lead group with 3 other riders we stayed together for the first half of the race and just kept the pace nice and steady the whole time..one of the guys flated with 5 laps to go...it was now three of us with the next rider way way back. the two guys i was riding with where buddies so they worked together against me...i held on to them for as long as i could but with 3 laps to go they got a 10 sec. gap on me... and i never saw them again.. i just kept it smooth and didn't make any mistakes no crashing sucked down a hammer gel and road the rest of the race out finishing up in 3rd place...i was so happy... i learned a lot from the race...it seems as if half of your race is decided in the start.. you don't have to deal with traffic and your right there too jump on anyones back wheel..and when i was in the group with the leaders we didn't go terrible hard..just steady..it seems when im working alone i race two times as hard..so i have to work on my starts for the big races and act like i belong there.
  19. it all depends if the back stays are horrizontal or vertical. it they are veritcal then you can't stretch the chain tight..because as chains get older they tend to stretch a bit..correct me if im wrong
  20. hesh...nice bike...that's cool people people at the shop reconize me..what team do they ride for? payroll..ive got a litespeed tuscany..i love it... the pegoretti's is a pretty bike race report... lancaster PA well after driving 4 hours to get there and steping out of the car and it being 15 degrees colder then in va. went with the pops and walked the course..it was very flat almost no climbing a few short steep curvy climbs but nothing over a 50yards. there were two sandpits(i hope they put pictures of the race up) it was the corner of a vollyball court. I am the slowest starter..but for real..i was last dead last with some 37 riders ahead of me i could only move up i slowly picked a few riders off 7 to be exact...i felt great and for the first time tod wells and mark gullickson didn't lap me..they came close but nope they didn't...i felt as if it was the best ive ridden all season even tho my 26th placement doesn't really show it..i have small goals like the amount of time between me and the leaders stuff like that...i also road hard and consistant every lap and only clashed once. richmond va well i train on this course twice a week so i had something to prove..the legs were feeling pretty good a bit lactic acid feeling on the run ups but not too bad..i had a great start..i think the reason i did was b/c i felt like i was supose to be there when i race against the pro's i feel like a nobody..but the local races everyone knows me. we start and im in the top ten in the start and stayed there the whole race..a few riders who didn't have the fast pace in them slowly fell off the lead group..this course has a long gradual climb..(a half mile or so) i was able to make up lots of time half way through the race i was in 5th place with 2 guys 30 sec up and a guy 30 sec back..i didn't really have the legs to give it my all and catch the two riders up so i just kept my pace the same and didn't let the man behind me get to close and rolled through with a 5th place finish..even tho the compitition isn't as great as the other races ive done it feels good to have a solid result next weekend im in charlottesville va
  21. raced in lancaster pa yesterday now im heading to richmond va for another race...race report tonight
  22. i have no clue...did you send it to the company or is a shop doing it dibs there is a big difference between the c's and b's the thing with the b's is that they go a bit faster and your looking at anywhere from 2 to 3 maybe 4 laps more of racing...but don't underestamate yourself..i say give it a shot..hell ive come in last befor..there's no shame as long as you finish
  23. race number three...reston va...mac cup race oh it was a beautiful day temp. in the lower 60's just warm enough to go with out the arm warmers...the course was good exept they got a tun of rain the end of last week and the flats through the grass were nothing but 4 inches of grass and mudd. I must say i think i am the slowest started EVER...god if i could only start out fast i think i could place a bit higher..but none the lest by the time we got the the top of the first hill i was sitting nice in the back 3..yeah it takes me half a lap to a lap for me to really get into it..i slowly make my way thought all slow rider and there is a nice climbing section i really pushed it on and past some 5 people...i was getting in a nice grove the race was starting to spread out...i slowly picked my way through the field one by one about 4 laps into the race a caught up with this kid bobby lee..he always beats me did last year at nationals but today was my dad...i jumped on his back wheel and man he wasn't going all that fast so i just hung on his back wheel for about half a lap and then droped him on the climbs i by the time i finished the lap i had about 20-25 sec. on him about a 3rd of the way into the 3rd lap to go i flated....but although i flated i must say the tufo tires are great...i was able to ride a third of the lap till the next pit area with the flat...i was running tubulars if i was running a clincher my race would of been over...my dad was ready for me with a spair bike and we made the switch i road the rest of the lap on my dad's bike and he had my bike ready for me at the next pit another clean swap..while all this was happening bobby lee and another rider caught and passed be by the time i got my bike back they had a good 25 sec. on my i had two laps to go...i could tell that bobby and the other guy really put the hammer down but i was able to catch them 2/3rds of the way through the lap and just took off...i could tell that bobby was hurting so i really put the heat on and was able to get a good 10sec on them half way through the last lap bobby blew and was out i kept myself up and just pushed it the rest of the lap and the other guy didn't have enough to catch me...i ended up 12th out of 33 riders...im happy with how i did i really wanted top ten tho..i think if i didn't flat i would of been able to get atleast 11th.. next weekend...lancaster PA...hesh how close is that to you? and then sun. RICHMOND VA...home turf...keep riding
  24. well had my first two cyclocross races of the season this weekend... sat. deleware well after driving up from va at 5am and getting out of the car and having it be 15degrees colder and a heavy heany mist/drizzle i guess you could say..i was in for some fun...my dad went first and distroyed his age group..my dad 51 won the 45+ age group...then it was my turn after 4 other races aready over with the course was nothing but mudd. the course was full of tricky off camber(sp) turns and the nice long mudd run up. well i raced with the elites yeah i had tim johnson and mark gullickson lined up next to me at the start...i felt pretty good i was a bit intimidated by the big names next to me...so the race is off..i have never had to start a race so fast in my life...by the time i was in the first real turn i was already in the last 5 of the riders... the first two laps where nothing but chasing and crashing and trying not hit the person in front of you..it was good clean fun. i worked my way up a bit and settled into a nice rythem...i was going as fast as i could the whole race...i dropped my chain and fell a few times which didn't help me that much well come 2 laps to go i here the anouncer saying the leaders are coming up..(in the elite UCI races they pullyou if you get lapped by the leaders) so with 2 laps to go here come tim johnson and mark gullickson i was about 2 min. from finishing my second to last lap and i didn't want to get pulled so i faught like hell to say on their back wheels and coming to the finish line i spinted past them to stay in the race....i finished my last lap feeling good...i ended up finishing 19th out of 36 starters with one lap down to the leader. I felt good it was my first race at this high of a level and i can't really get down on myself b/c i got lapped b/c those two were so far a head that third place didn't lap me... sunday... monkey hill...a huge race the course had a nice cobble stone climb and some nice run ups but had a fair amount of flat sections... my dad did it agian whooping up on the 45+ winning the race...then it was my turn once agian and i didn't get off to a good start i was on the back part of the course when they anouced that the race was starting in 2 min. by the time i got to the start they were already lined up and i had to quickly get my legs warmers off and just as i got the last one off the race started i was the last one up the first hill and i had to chase like hell to get on the back of the last rider...the first lap was really backed up and was hard to move up i passed a few riders on the first run up and some more on the climb i tryed to settle into a rythem but i had a nice crash just as i was settling in that kinda messed everything else...and the combination of the race before and having to catch up the whole race i never really got ahead and i blew on the second to last lap...i don't even remember riding it...the tim johnson got me agian on the last lap...i ended up finishing 30th out of 45 riders i was last person to finish the rest either got pulled or dropped out... i don't mind getting last as long as i finish...i was a bit disapointed with sunday but what can you do...i just have to train a bit more and race everyopertunity i can get at the highest level to get better...next weekend i'll be in reston va...i hope they get the sniper by then or he likes guys in spandex...
