Major delays on Pink Line after man is hit and killed

October 6, 2010 9:15 AM | No Comments | UPDATED STORY

A man was hit and killed by a CTA Pink Line train this morning at the Polk Station, causing power to be shut down in both directions, authorities said. Riders encountered long delays for more than an hour.

Preliminary reports about 7:30 a.m. said a person was trapped under the train.

A fire department said that person was removed. Officials later confirmed a man of indeterminate age had been killed.

The CTA closed the Pink Line between Polk and 18th Street, installing shuttle bus service. But the city said at about 9:10 a.m. that trains were running again.
