emit_df
Love Dare's work.. He really latched on the east coast 3d style...
heavyLox
yeah it was definitely him latching on....
emit_df
Actually the overlap, notched out 3d style has become a standard at this point. CT in the early 90's had some infleuence.
Fresh Green
Dare's been pulling shit out like this since forever my man. He pretty much coined this style.
emit_df
He may have been doing that overlap 3d for a while... but it was not anywhere back in the 92. I used to search for it since I had never seen it done. If you can find a Dare piece (or any piece for that matter ) with an early 90's date and that overlap nothed out 3d.. I would love to see it. It is possible to get the same or similar ideas in two difference scenes without infleuence from each other.
heavyLox
of course UW wasnt doing that then at all.
emit_df
^^ you know your stuff. I'm impressed. The only piece i had ever seen back then with over lap 3d was a king bee UW (painted the same summer) but it was very simple with one letter in front on another.. almost block letter style. Not interconnected letters with notched out 3d sections.... and deffinatly no lighting effects on the 3d. In later years I saw a few minor progressions of this concept from them but nothing like what was happening in other crews.

heavyLox
and hesh and daim weren't doing their 3d letters with bits of overlap at the time ether right? to me that was the impetuses of much of it. applying the concepts of light and shade to wild-style letters; based on seeing them 'realistically' painted on 3d pieces. emit_df
it was all the same summer. Hesh & Daim they could have infleuenced Dare.. that makes more sense. I just never saw Dare do that overlap 3d style till 97 ish.
