  1. Thanks B+D, Fglk stands for Finger lakes Railway, which is based in upstate NY, but I believe it may be more like the Gmrc's, where they are being leased out for use by different railroads in other areas and usually only return to their home line for repairs and such. A lot of those Fglk's are former shortline cars from a number of different lines, I think that yellow one was formerly an AN (Apalachicola Northern) from Florida.

  2. I hear the BAR (MMA) has threatened that before, not too long ago. That would be a real bummer, and a very shortsighted short term solution. Once gas hits 4 bucks or more a gallon again (and it will) everyone will once again be shipping by rail, as they were a few years ago, the tracks were packed. Why else would Warren Buffet be buying controlling shares of BNSF, he knows it's coming, permanently.

  3. Great flix BDork, always loved that big Learn coming off the route 1 bridge, welcome to Portland baby !!

Speaking of which, just read that they will be building a brand new route 1 bridge next to the old one, it's time to document everything in existence underneath the current old bridge as it will be gone in a year or so. Lots of goodies on the pillars and such. Supposedly the new one will have a nice walk/bikeway along the bridge, yes ! That will become a nice place to bench fr8's rolling in and out of town, and catch some sweet pics with the bay/docks/ships,etc in the background.

  4. I figured the MEST action would be enjoyed :-) It's so important to document all aspects of writing history, most of us who were there made the mistake of not capturing the subways on camera when they were alive, just took it all for granted, definitely not planning on making that mistake twice.
