  1. Dear WhiteOx,

Garvey fades in the sun. Mix it with a non fading base, ie. Marsh. If you read back a few pages youll see plenty of talk about it. Anyone who posts in this thread without reading it is looking like an ass and getting dissed. This thread has pretty much any question you can ask covered, and then some. READ IT ALL!!! I'm pretty sure this questioned is greuled over for the 100th time only a page or two back.

ALL NEW HEADS!!! READ THIS WHOLE THREAD!!! PRINT IT OUT!!! DONT LOOK LIKE A FAG... for some it's already too late. :D

  2. If anyones looking for advice to speed up the "style" process, start just practicing straight lines and circles. It sounds simple, but try and you will see. Drawing perfect circles and lines will give you insight into why the best writers are respected for their work. Try drawing your name in any font on Word perfectly by hand. Not so easy is it.

My mentor taught me this years ago, and I still follow these rules. Lines and circles are the basis for any well written type.

Perfect circle, perfect line = the basis for any great style..

  3. Stylized buildings, with graff ON them if you really want. The foucus is on the street though. The style of the buildings is more important than the style ON the buildings... get me.

Secondly, yeah maybe the 6th is not enough time, so I'll not set a date for sure until Starz sez a time he feels is more appropriate for this thread. I don't know how often kats check this thread, this is my first venture in here. If Starz doesn't post a suggested reply time by Sunday December 5th, I'll extend until the 10th. Sound fair?

  4. I will battle anyone on a street scene, one colour pencil drawing. Basicly... a skyline, storefronts, projects, etc. It can be as big as you like (mine will probably be about 3ft by 1ft). If there are any takers, submissions should be posted by Monday, December 6th @ noon. Starz (everyone), this is my first battle, I just came across this thread, so If you think (recomend) I should give more time for competitors entry, let me know. I will start mine ASAP, and have it posted on Starz go ahead. Cool? I'll check back tommorow.

  5. Although Chumb will still have an answer for you... I'll give it a good shot. 1) Anything to do with a spring or actuator valve, should go. 2) The cut may have to be made in the actual plastic that holds the spring in place. Anything restricting ink flow should go... the goal is to get the ink to the nib as fast as possible, no?

    >> If you use Kiwi's or Woodcrafts, the rules are still the same. Lose the actuator, lose the flow restrictions.

    Give it hell Chumba.......

    Peace.

  6. 1) Garvey stains metal surfaces as it sees fit. It is the best metal stain, but check for best results.

    2) The tops on Woodcraft markers come off easy with vice grips or common plubers wrench. Try rubber gloves to start though, I find a strong grip usually does the trick. :biglaugh:

  7. ... Well I know people have left comments about Marsh, but people who acctually USE the shit, and people who just comment on shit they dont know are hard to tell sometimes. ie. I've used quite a few recipies from here with unsatisfactory long term results. Most of the stuff you have put up, you have also posted long term results with. Thats the only reason I like responses from you.

  8. Can do Rubb... Thanks for the straight up answer. This is the only thread I check regularly on here, and as an ink lover, I fail to see a due amount of props for you on this subject. Well... heres mine, cheers :) Goin' bombin' tonite.

    P.S.

I will definetly post my results with the Marsh mixes on here. This thread deserves it. Peace.

Check the Vancouver Volume one thread for some of my recent hits in pic form.;)

  10. That shit may stain insides, but I've seen nothing but fade aways on any surface exposed to natural weathering. What goods a stain if the color disappears? No good. What are YOU on son! :) (what are you hitting?). I've had my Garvey Violet buffed off straight metal telephone booths with no problem. Ive had my Nero buffed off of plastics no problem. I've followed this thread from the begining. So far everythings faded or buffed before it has a chance to stain. Have you never had this problem? I'm not saying that a few things here and there dont stain, but across the board I'm starting to think straight permanent ink is the all around best. I don't think that this is that crazy of a revalation. I've spent the last month rocking a navy blue Fiebings/Nero/Garvey/Marsh (red dye) mix all over the place. Most of the hits are half or totally faded. I've tried them all straight too. They all fade hella fast. This isn't bullshit speculation, this is actual experience. I believe you Chum, I've had good experiences with stainers too... it just seems very on and off with these mixes when compared to a straight high quality perm ink. I've had Pilot stain insides, and last forever with full colour outside. Sure it buffs a bit easier, but at least it shines the whole time its up. I dont want to argue over it, I'm more just looking for writers who can relate.

  11. I've tried it all. Garvey, Nero, Montana, Hard to Buff, Fiebings, Omega, Marsh. I've decided that Garvey isn't that hot against whatever there using to buff around here, and it fades FAST. I have a gallon of Marsh black dye type in the mail, and hope it doesn't dissapoint. So far my favorite ink is Pilot, but it's just to expensive and small quantitied. I vote for lazy buffers who leave smears, OR aggresive buffers who scour the shit into the surface. Flat white and black spraypaint win the buff tests every time. I still have a fudge load of Garvey, and will have tons o' marsh soon... crystal violets in the mail (but I hear it's the same shit as Garvey). So I'm guessing that the Garvey/Marsh(OR CV mix) mix is off. (it rains as hard as the buffers buff round here) After all my searching, can it be true that the marsh best be left on its own for maximum staying power? I'm tired of trying to make super inks that just dilute each others abilities.

Heres my choice destroyer. Old pilot with chalk board nib. The Nero Garvey mix for me at least, so far, has been way over rated. Buffed clean on metal five times. Left a very slight ghost on certain surfaces that absorb shit though. I think I'm gonna explode with exitement when I get my gallon of Marsh this week. I've been using Nero and Garvey in alot of mixes lately, and it all fades way to fast in the rain. No good in the rain.

  13. right now I've got a few tags I'm waiting to see buffed. I'll post results?

    In the mix:

    -violet garvey

    -nero d'inferno

    -red marsh

    -montana black

........ dried to a flat black. Tried on plastic bus shelter window, smooth cement, bus insides. Kiwi with chalk board nib. Works killer, lots o' drips! Also tried Montana silver ink in bingo dauber for kicks (also on plastic window). Fun,fun, fun. Hate how quick stock nibs fuck up on Kiwi and bingo marks though.

  14. I've been looking for potassium perm. @ home depo and aquatic supply places lately, and alot of people are are telling me that it's outdated and hardly in use anymore. I did however find this shit called Seachem Marine Buff Ph. 8.3. Its a white powder. Is it just the Ph that matters? Is this the same? 6OF1, this ones for you!

  15. Much respect 6OF1, thanks very much for the response. I'll have to use garvey / hard to buff for now, hopefully the results will be just as sexy as with the montana ink. Thanks again, your advice has been priceless!

    >>> I just had a bunch O' this shit sent to me, and it cost me $70 CDN... don't really want to waste it. 6OF1? Rubb? I have done some experimenting with a Navy Blue Fiebing's/ Violet Garvey mix, looks good, but I'm still waiting for the results.
