    Do you remember the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Dr Jekyll, the famous scientist, is not all he seems, and the other side of his character - Mr Hyde - is, you will recall, a distinctly nasty piece of work.

     

    Continuing the idea of the two sides of the human character, have a look at the picture above. On the left is Dr Angry, and on the right is Mr Calm.

     

    Now, back away from your computer screen. This effect will work at different distances for different people, but you should see the two characters swap over...! As you come closer to the screen again, they revert to their original characters. Spooky or what!

     

    As optical illusions go, we think this is pretty impressive. A short explanation goes something like this. When we look at an object, we can normally see both fine detail and coarse detail. However when we are close, the fine detail will dominate, and when we are further away, we lose the fine detail, and see more of the coarse detail.

     

    Both of the faces you see above are hybrids - each face is actually a combination of two faces. The left hand face shows an angry man in fine detail, but within the picture there is also coarse detail of the calm face. Move away, and you lose the fine (angry) detail, and just see the coarse (calm) detail.

     

    The right hand face shows the calm face in fine detail, and the angry face in coarse detail.

    Someone please answer this for me:

     

    At the end of the movie when the Empress is telling Bastion to give her a new name he runs up to the window, opens it and screams out a name (while getting rained on etc.)

     

    WHAT THE FUCK DOES HE YELL OUT?

     

    I watched the movie with captions and all it said was "yelling!"

    At my previous home my backyard went right up to a highway way and I would hear that kind of thing all the time. This house was also about 100 yards away from the train tracks so when I laid in bed at night I would always hear the weird noises a semi makes, motorcycle races, etc and then the trains off and on. I kinda miss it.

    Opera was doing tabbed browsing was before Firefox.

     

    Did you all even watch the movies? The audio is from Bill Gates describing new features in Windows Vista - taken from the CES conference earlier this week. Some mac guy made a video with all the same feature that already exsist in tiger.

    Earlier this week, Bill Gates gave the Keynote Address at CES. In an effort to gear people up for the gadget wizardry they were about to experience on the show floor, Bill touted the revolutionary new features of the upcoming Windows Vista. Baring any further setbacks, Vista is scheduled to be released near the end of 2006.

     

    Any Mac users who watched the Keynote were likely unimpressed. This must have been the case with the user who created the following video. Is Vista unique in all of its first of a kind features? You decide.

    People spend money on dumb shit because they can. I find bearbricks, kubricks, qees etc aestheticlly pleasing - especially when there is a good artist designing them. I just couldn't keep up and wanted to spend my money on other things - like a new mac and shoes. If anything the trend is getting more popular - esp. in our little graffiti sub culture with all the dalek, kaws, ewok, haze, jest, etc.

    Bearbricks are blind assortment. When you purchase blind assortment figures they come packaged in identical boxes. The boxes are the same in every way and you can not see what is inside! On the side of the boxes will be a list of different possible figures. One of these figures awaits inside the box.

    The chances of you getting particular figures are listed as percentage rates. The percentages are based on a box of 24 figures. As you can see, you have a better chance of getting the BASIC figure as opposed to the ARTIST figure.

     

    You sometimes have a chance of getting one of more than 12 different figures.

    When you open the boxes the figure will be wrapped in foil. At this point you STILL cannot tell which figure you got!

     

    Foil is used to wrap the figure so people dont open the box and peek inside! It is also used so people don't scan the boxes under X-ray machines. (Believe it or not, it DOES happen!)

     

    If by chance you get a figure that is not listed on the side of the box, Congratulations! You have found a rare 'chase' figure! Some of these figures are so rare and limited that people pay BIG $$ for them (We're talking hundreds here!).
