oh right on....looks a lot better than how bianchi has built up their regular pista. i saw on the 05 pista they finally dropped those crappy truvativ cranks for some lower end sugino stuff. what made you decide against going with Vanilla>? i know you were pretty geeked about those a year or so ago?

congrats J, buying new bikes is pretty fun. how did you build up your new rig? i just went from 50 hours/wk on the bike down to about 5/wk of leisurely commuting and going to and from the bar! i can feel my belly growing! :king:

my signature notwithstanding, i can't hang with spending too much on jeans to look fly in. i ride my bike everywhere (read: ass worn out) and manage to have silver dripped all over everything i own. it just ain't worth it for me. i get the same size color model of levis every six months. besides, last thing i need is another expensive habit to complement my sneaker habit.

me too...they didn't crack but i kept on wearing through BB's and finally there was play between the splines and a new BB. besides, they were heavier than a tank and those splined BB's cost a shitload. Dura Ace Campy Sugino 75 i've got a set of sugino's that've practically been through a war and they're still strong and an old pair of square taper campy's

thanks guys, yeah, the bike actually showed up on ebay, and on my way into work this morning like 3 people called and told me. (good to have people that look after you) so i checked the web and the sellers info was actually the address of a pawn shop in my city. i went in took a brief look around, spotted it and walked out. i had the police report and serial# on me so i called them and (long story short, paperwork paperwork etc etc. ) got it back. they had a white LOOK (bernard Hinault) road bike that was in there that i know that was stolen but i couldn't rescue it because i didn't know the owner. sucks. what's funny is the bike is cleaner and in better condition than when i lost it. they armor alled the tires and completely cleaned the wheelset and frame...they even cleaned the bar tape. so it was kinda like a detailing that took too long. they actually showed me a picture of the dude who pawned it, (he's already got cases pending) and i got his name and address, but i prolly won't do anything until the case is finished, the last thing i need is an assault charge and the case to be dropped. fuck im. who knows though, if i see him on the street, it'll be hard to resist doing anything....sucker. hope shit's going good !@#$%

thank's steve. i appreciate your offer, i've got other stuff to ride, it's pretty much like going from driving a ferrari all day to driving a ford escort. i didn't think i was a bike snob, but i guess i'm turning into one. having a well built frame makes a big difference. question: in other news, i got a set of older never used campy cranks (taper) and a dura ace bottom bracket (also taper), can i use these together w/o fucking up my cranks?

rear was a black phil wood track hub built on a velocity deep v rim, front was crappy bianchi (suzue) hub built up on mavic something or other.

negative, steve. 57-59 cm road 55-57 cm track

it was... i went from 3 working bikes to 1 in a week. the bottom bracket on my back up crapped out and is seized in the frame. i'm riding on the lowest of the low right now, on some riches to rags type shit.

All Points bulletin on a __________ track frame built with__________ etc.

thanks guys. i think the repaint might be out of my price range right now, i'm going to build it up and see if those cable guides irritate me as much as they do now before i dremel those mofos off
-
what's up guys. two questions. bought a bike i'm not really fond of the color. does anyone have any info on frame repainting? prices etc? can i do it myself and still have it be on point? also...this thing has got cable guides underneath the top tube that drive me crazy. is there anyway i can file, saw or dremel them off without compromising the rest of the frame.?

ugh....i'd have to say i'm in the rage-a-holic category....shit builds up every couple months. hesh, what size is that colnago?
-
damn joker, is that new, it kinda hearkens back to some older stuff you've done but it's almost old englishy looking. aren't you a little old to be drawing on napkins?

0 degrees this morning....work sucks

well...in my opinion, if you're just using it for riding around and not putting it through 10 hours of messengering a day is to buy a COMPLETE bike and just upgrade parts as you wear them out...that way you'll have something to ride right from the get go and you'll save a lot of money. for the wear and tear you put on your bike most of the stock stuff on those bikes should last you a while. i've been through a stock bottom bracket in 4 months and had to have my bearings repacked in my rear hub twice since january....but that probably won't be the case for you. my personal preferences are the pista, the surly and the KHS. in that order. you should be able to get all those built up for under 600 and hopefully around 500. also if you want a NEW bike (not used) sometimes you can come across last years models at shops for a good discount.

all of those frames are decent for the price...the rear hubs that come on the pistas are kinda garbage. i've had the bearings repacked twice on mine since january, but for the price it can't really be beat. you can also look into the KHS and Fugi track frames for the same price range. what are you planning on doing on this bike? racing? messengering? dicking around town? any of them would be more than fine for the third option, but you might want to think about it a little more if considering the first two.
