A few nights ago pixadors diss the famous "VLOK" and friends mural ( Os Gemeos, Nunca, Ise, Toes, Finok, Nina, Zefix) on 23 de Maio. This is the major avenue which runs through the heart of downtown Sao Paulo. In protest against local government providing the (public) space and for funding the cost which was R$ 20,000.00 which is about 11,500.00 American dollars. For those that dont follow the graffiti and pixacao movement in Brasil, The two worlds have been able to co-exist without many problems of beef or capping.

Based on my experiences with painitng in Sao Paulo, I have seen roll down doors full from top to bottom with tags that ride until mother nature buffs them out. These roll downs and walls wont ever been gone over by anyone with other tags, bombs or pieces. Common respect for the other artist is a strong foundation in a world of 21 million people and the 80's style mentality where evryone has a "tag".

This protest is historical, controversial and could change some ideas between graffiti artist and the pixadors.

On 18 March a group of Pixadores attacked a mural painted by OSGEMEOS, NUNCA, NINA, Finok, and Zefix, which was sponsored by the city hall of Sao Paulo and cost R$ 200,000 to state coffers ( $ 100.000 U.S. dollars). The following sentence was written beyond the Pixações: "R$ 200,000 in Makeup, and the city is in calamity,".

Last month, for more than 30 days it rained non-stop in the city, and countless poor communities were flooded. Many of these communities did not receive any help from the City hall of Sao Paulo even after 3 weeks. However, the mural was all cleaned in the same night, by a huge team of City Hall by using sponges and hydraulic cranes.

The mayor of Sao Paulo, after creating the project "Clean City" in 2006, which erased much of the illegal Graffitis and Pixações of the city, is funding with public funds many projects of LEGAL Graffitis with Famous writers, in order to silence the critics and manipulating public opinion

This is the same group that raided the University of Fine Arts, Choque Cultural Gallery, 28th Sao Paulo Biennial in 2008.

More actions such as these were promised.
