It costs about $50 to buff a panel. $10 for the chemical (GR99 aka Graffiti Remover 99) $30 at most at today's wages for the labour and $10 for the paperwork. A wholecar is almost as cheap. Just times the chemical by 8 and labour by the extra time needed. The paperwork charge stays the same. It's just baby-boomer sub-contractors with their $300 an hour wages and dodgy paperwork that ups the cost. In Melbourne they also add on the "reduced service" fee which goes into the many thousands of dollars. Other places add on a "disruption of services" fee. They call it what they like but at the end of the day it's all bullshit. Back in 1989 it cost less than $30 to buff a panel and they used the same shit then that they use now.
