    One of the new HP ones, I think it's an 11.5 inch has HDMI out. Bit more of a price but it's probably more suited for what you want it for. I got the HPmini above and it's great. easy to take around, fast, cheap. But fuck using Windows 7 on it! That shit was slow as anything.

    Quickly rebuilt it with Linux

    Yah, I'm running Ubuntu now. I like acid because I am familiar with it and because of VST, but I guess I could start getting into linux music production.

     

    My main question is about the sound cards. Will they work well on linux, well enough to record vocals and support VST?

     

    Like casek said, get another gig of ram, I know most of the netbooks have an 'upgrade' offer where the double the HD size, add another gig of ram and give you a 6 cell battery.

    I don't know if you'd be wanting to use a netbook for music production though! I was thinking of getting one but I'd only really use it for iTunes and updating my website, etc..

    Fuck macs, not worth the $$$ or the gay hipster cred that goes along with them.

     

    HP has some sweet books out there that are solid as fuck if you can shell out the cash ($300-500)

     

    Processor speeds are all about the same with the net books, the one major difference in them is the type of hard drive that they have. Either solid state or hard disk.

     

    Solid state drives are like a USB flash drive - they have no moving parts and pretty much never fail, although they have smaller capacities than normal hard drives (usually less than 50 gigs).

     

    Hard disk drives (which is what most computers/laptops/netbooks use). have a spinning disk and usually have much higher capacity (150 - 200 gigs).

     

    I went for the solid state since its more reliable, durable, and the computer is completely silent when it's running.

    I've been looking at getting one for travel and shit. Still need to try one out in the shop but they look handy as.

    I remember this dream from ages ago..

     

    I was at home, a normal day until someone broke into the house, some fucked up psychopath and me and my family ended up being held captive in our own home. Everything was dark as fuck and the place was a mess. He would keep us all alive on minimal food but torture us, burning me with cigarettes, cutting little slices of my skin off.. Shit like that and it felt like it went on for ages. I've forgotten exact parts now but I never forget the end.

    There was shit all over the house, boxes of food spilt and I was so weak I could only slump against the door in the kitchen, glass door. He took my family out of the room and I knew he was going to kill them, there was nothing I could do, knowing I was next, just sitting there. Heard all the screaming. So he left his gun on the table and I managed to reach up and grab it, shot myself in the head and I felt the burning as it ripped through, felt the glass smashing behind me and fell onto the floor. But I was still alive, I could see everything but I couldn't move or speak.

    The guy brought my family back into the room, who were alive, and then I watched him slowly kill them..

    Shit was fucked up though. Woke up not knowing what the fuck was going on.

    yeah its just the idea behind it. Ive just never been on to have reading materials of any sort in the bathroom.

    I can't read in the bathroom, it's weird and I'm never in there for long enough.

    I had a mate who came round, borrowed a book for his one hour adventure in the shitter...
