"Yesterday I discovered the most shocking website. It is by and for taggers (they want to be called writers, I learned). It's called the Writer's Forum. Neanderthals from all over the world send in pics of what they've done, and they all compliment each other. I wonder if any of them have ever been on a date. Talk about a case of, "Get a Life!" Today's pics are from the Hollywood district."

I respect this fella. I'm all for people taking control of their own neighbourhood.

    a guy named boogie

WARNING: some of the images are very powerful and touching and WILL make you sick to your stomach. NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART.

    really good stuff though

anyone else got worth while links?

seriously, it's photographers like that who make me want to put the camera down. there's no way in hell i could ever shoot that well.... subject matter alone... goddamn.

    [/b]

Really? They make me want to pick it up! :)

As for worthwhile links, seems like an obvious one for work in the vein of Boogies I don't know if you all know of it already, but you can't really go wrong with Magnum photographers (typical English understatement for you there haha): http://www.magnumphotos.com

Really great street photography site: http://www.in-public.com

...on which Matt Stuart is a favourite of mine: http://www.in-public.com/site/mattstuart/portfolio/index.php (more at his website too which should be linked on there somewhere)

  3. I was using a crappy digital camera that doesn't have varying shutter speeds as far as I know. It belongs to a friend, when it came out sometime back in the Neolithic period I think it was marketed at the 'point and shoot' customer.

I rarely use digital... I need to get a good cheap digi SLR soon I think.

  4. anyone here fuck with large format. post that shit. i think some of the pro-fession-al dude's shit(the one with the tracks and old shack) in the couple pages back was a LF shot... i like some of that shit, and INFA RED shots, post that shit too, post em, ima start getting into that junx because my school has a class where they GIVE you a LF cammera for a whole semester..dope shit, i love the way these films can fuck woth the contrasts soooo much, like shots with a lot of clouds.

from what i understand IR film is the hardest shit in the world to shoot with cause you basicly have to guess what the settings are.

i wonder if that shit will be tight or if i will break the shit in half.

plus for me most of my shots besides the killer whore set is all spur of the moment, and i aint got more than 3 seconds tops to take the picture.

so yeah, hook it up with shots(either yours or ones you like) and info on the above said shit.

I've been reading up on infrared film myself recently and will definitely try it out soon. I was happy to learn that Kodak even make 35mm Infrared film. Anyway after a couple of Google searches I found this huge list of books on infrared photography: http://www.atsf.co.uk/ilight/ilightbooks.html

I don't know about you but I'm not about to buy new books on something I might not even like (moneys tight etc) so ignore the blatant Amazon plugs and see if your school/city libraries have any of those...

  5. trouble, kittens are mandatory posts... they're like an initiation.

Haha excellent, I hope I passed!

I don't know if I'm straying into cliche territory here (as discussed yesterday), 'urban exploration' seems to be the new trendy thing to do in 2005. I've visited the odd abandoned place in my time but never under the pretext that I was taking part in some 'movement', just wanted somewhere interesting to paint and take photos.

  6. Been lurking in this thread for a while... In a previous 12oz life posted many 'normal' shots of graf in the benches section but got bored of it recently.

    Hmm kittens.
