Actually... we call the people from the United States, Estado Unidenses (united statian) ... so to me it does make sense. I believe the whole "american" thing comes from that dude, President Monroe and his "america for the americans" policy, that's when united statians claimed for themselves the name AMERICA for their country, when in reality its a whole continent not just a single country.
And on that same subject, most people are well aware that america are 2 continents, but that is not true. America is one continent with 3 diferent regions, North America, Central America and South America. Just like there's Eastern Europe and Western Europe, you don't say France and Poland are from 2 different continents, right?

this is something that annoys me, "America" is a continetnt- actually a few (north AND south America and also central America that connects them together) so therefore were all americans, when we say we are "mexican" we are just pointin out what part of "America" we are from. so yeah- there go my 2 cents bitches.
