It will actually weather away on something like... Painted wood (bus stops here). When I hit up shit, I don't have time to have a marker with ink for each surface I hit, I like to have an ink that will last on metal, wood, cement, plastic etc. Straight Garvey will stain metal, but not wood or plastic. Now, the ink I add is Marsh; it doesn't necessarrily stain the aforementioned surfaces that Garvey doesn't, but it does have it's staying power.

what then, would be the benefit of mixing garvey and marsh other than cosmetic?

ah man... garvey violet is so vivid! on light surfaces you can spot it all the way down the block! i guess everyones got there own flava'.

  2. yea, i wouldnt suggest adding to garvey either, it is near perfect (on metal surfaces). havent used much nero but from what i understand it is great on plastics. and marsh, well thats just asking to be doctored up.

  3. ^^^i have plenty of garvey.

infact i have baby-biggie filled with violet garvey right now.

i got a handful of marks and mops filled with various inks as well as a box full of different inks, additives, etc.

its a part my well rounded diet...why, whatchu' got?

yea i've notice the ashy sheen to the liquid but this powder is straight green. i quess i was wondering if that is typical but whatever... it works.

  5. RUBBISH, yo brother...

you seem to have a good understanding of additives.

i think gentian violet (powder) and crystal violet are the exact same thing,...

    __25_30___3

basically the are synonyms for the same molecular structure, right?

i stumbled across a good sized bottle of the gentian powder and its green. it turns color after its mixed with an alcohol solvent though(ink for example). is that the same stuff you've been getting?

  6. ^^^ first Mr. T-H-C, what kind of "old marker" is it that you have?

secondly, what is it about your marker did you want to improve?

have you tried any modifications yet and what did you think of your marker after said modifications?

no hating going on here but your not gonna get something for nothing.

if you want some direction that you cant find in these pages, show some effort and answer some questions. dont be vague if you want a detailed reply.

  7. ^^^ i've tried refilling the uni's as well. in my experience you will never get a solid flow with a used uni nib. all i ever got was streaks. but if you do figure out how to revive a used px-30 nib, let me know! really.

  8. for anyone who feels that thier OTR flow pen doesnt give up enough drips... i got a simple modification to the valve that increases the ink flow. it works well with any OTR type valve. just waitin' for my buddies digital camera to post photos with the modifying instructions.

    coming soon...

its the classic roll-on mop design. its the shit.

i did go through some trouble finding that particular container.

a good idea for your roll-on mop is: once you get your chalk felt cut to the right size and rolled up, put a needle and thread through it a few times. it makes for a more solid nib that wont slip down inside the mop. it also makes the mop easier to refill when you can just pop the nib off and pop it back on instead of unraveling a saturated piece of felt and then winding it back up to put it back on the mop.

no way brother, its a my own lil' deoderant mop. you should see all the deoderant bottles i got at the house. i quit using the kiwi's awhile back, once i found a suitable replacement.

that music has to do inks with folk? I do not understand anything.

nope they dont have anything to do with ink... that question was totally unrelated and i guess i shouldnt have brought it up in here but scott herren is a hip-hop producer from ATL that goes by prefuse 73. he is now living in spain, colaberating on savath&savalas...

and now i am way off topic in this thread and probably confusing you.

anyways i was just wondering if you were feelin' savath&savalas sound but nevermind, its not important and sort of random.

for real though... can you try again with your last ink post? i want to know about some of the inks yall use over there. what do you prefer to load your marks with?

what do you think of corio?

yea but when you bomb mom&pop shops, your hurting real people who are really jsut trying to make enough money to pay off a morgage, put their kids through school, and maybe put enough squilla in the bank to retire at 65.

bombing goliath corperations is a different story. the people that own stores or companies like that are money hording CEOs. corprate pigs that give themselves million dollar bonuses and screw all the hard working employees beneth them. the money spent on abatement was never going into the pockets of the low level workers anyways. so then your not taking food off the tables of everyday families by bombing larger companies.

  14. I was just giving him some pointers because thats what he asked for, I never said I did it or it was a good idea. I do think it is a waste of time, and a pot.

    ^^^ fair enough.^^^

any ideas why it didnt thicken up ?

yea that shit is mad staaankey.

anyways in my experience, the difference in thickness isnt going to be real drastic. there are the factors of time and temperature that can be adjusted, but i wouldnt recomend releasing all those cancerous vapors into your dwelling by putting your ink through a hard boil.

really, you may want to just adjust your recipie. the best way to really get in and alter the concistancy of an ink is through your additives.

i've never used nero but i would guess that it is thinner than fiberns, if thats the case, add alittle more of the fiberns and less of the nero.

powder additives help absorb some of the fluidity of the ink too.

the only time i boil ink is to even out the mixture, not to really tamper with the consistancy. and when i do decide to boil i use a double boiling system because it is more gentle on the ink, easier to control, better suits my boiling purposes, and releases less toxins into the air.

if you want to really want to thicken up your ink start with your ingredients. just doctor up your thickness by hand.

be careful with that boiling shit... these chemicals are very dangerous. be smart. if i were you, i would just work on your formula for now. boiling ink can be a serious health hazard and should not be done in jest.

and now i'm confused. first your giving advice on how to boil ink and 2 posts later your saying what a waste of time it is?

your right about the leaky pen chumba, if its leaking, pharoahe needs a new pen not thicker ink.

but boiling ink recipies isnt always a waste of time. in my experience it often gives you a more even mixture.
