Siloe, check with a local bike shop that takes trade-in bikes and/or buys and sells used bikes. There is a blue book for bikes. I saw one at one of my shops' locations the other day. Take the bike with you so they can figure out exactly what it is and it's condition.

Hey..I have a green french gitane course bike from Id say the eighties..could anybody help me out with info..Or any history? Is it worth anything etc..I got it for ten bucks at a thrift store and its in excellent shape..custom made and solid rubber tires..whhheeeee!
