The US ended up winning because the SOviets blew all their money on Nukes, while the US blew a shiload of money, it still had allot cause WW2 didnt really fuckt he US up as much as it fucked up the ountries in europe. Anyway, the Space Programs were like competitions between the Americans and the Soviets to build national motivation in their countries so the support inside the countries would be present. Its like the NY Yankees motivate New Yorkers into thinking their the shit, or the LA LAkers do the same. namean? just competing to see who had better scientists and shit. The US and Russia were the only countries that didn't get fucked over, and had the money available to develop something like that.
