MTA double deckers?

my dad was telling me theyre proposing to make double decker cars to deal with the need for more seating for more people. if this is true it means theyll have to either raise the roof, no pun intended, on tunnels or lower the tracks at certain spots. one, is this true? two, which do you think theyll do?

LIRR already has some nice looking double deckers. The trick to getting them into low-clearence routes is that the first level is dropped as low as possible, so it really only looks like a 1 and a half decker. I dont know the Metro north infastructure well enough to comment, but I think they'd probably have the room.

it can haul 11 easy but not with HEP going

the LIRR C1 double deckers were tested into GCT but they only fit on two inside tracks, but not outside tracks.

MNCR has no plans to develope double deckers.
