  1. Thanks man. The real test comes Sunday...
  2. Took 2nd in the SS cat in Eugene on Saturday and 3rd in it today.... tonight's race was HARD. Started out in the back and had to make up positions. Real, real excited to race Alpenrose Cross Crusade on Sunday. PDX reppin'.
  3. Damn Joker, your bike is ballin' for sure. Also, white is PRO as fuck for anything mud related. Next year I'm going to race in a solid white skinsuit for a few RR's/crits...
  4. This is what my dreams are made out of. I can only think of one road I know of in Oregon that really puts out comparison to this...
  5. Word. At least cross practice in the rain is about 9000x better than road training in the rain. The only hard part is that initial roll out, then it's all good once you hit the woods/park...
  6. Whew, took 7th at PIR open men's cat last night. Handicap style racing out there is actually pretty fun.
  7. Only guess on the HS issue is the steer tube is a hair too long and the bolt threads can't engage enough... Yeah PotP was fun! I'm a definite believer in SS cross now. Tons of fun, less maintenance, less worrying and more mashing; 42/17 worked pretty well out there - the uphills hurt for sure but I could make up plenty more time in the flats and downhills. All in all, riding Firelanes 1, 5 and Mt. Tabor has helped a good deal on my handling skills, and the biggest epiphany I've had has been to ride in the drops for 90% of the race because control is just so much more fluid and precise when my center of gravity is lower. Man, cross is fucking awesome. Worlds more exciting than road, although I still have a special place for track and crits. Got 3 more races for the rest of the month in Eugene, then Cross Crusade starts...
  8. Ah c'mon Joker, you know the young buck BMXers wear skinny jeans and you were probably doing the same in the 80's......... Say, you doing Pain on the Peak this weekend? Should be fun and I'll be there as long as I can get a ride, but it's also likely going to be retarded hard for non-climbers like you and me.
  9. Joker - brake chatter is pretty common on CX bikes, especially with really light carbon forks. It can be fixed by a brake adjustment usually - try Veloship or RCB.
  10. Took a closer look at my shifter today; it's cracked clean through the body. SS conversion here I come.
  11. Yeah, whats up with running Deda track drops on a cross bike that much steer tube showing?
  12. Had a good crash in Forest Park today and put my CX bike out of commission, at least for now. Sheared the right SRAM shifter right off the bar, among other things. Meh.
  13. Unlikely as I'll be in Eugene at that point, so Hutch's Twilight CCX and Psycho Cross instead. I'm really gunning to get to some Cross Crusades though. Also, you ever heard of the Belgian method? It involves using both glue and tape. Supposed to deliver the best hold. FWIW Tufo tape will give more rolling resistance than a good glue job. 14. fat ralphy, those are called s&s couplers. they're usually available only on custom frames, and pimp as fuck. not so much for folding your bike on your commute as they are for making the bike easier to pack for airplane boxes and such. they're pretty much the height of practicality. whoever had that built had a lot of money...
  15. sharky's not a sprinter, at least not in the traditional sense. he's been sprinting through red lights on a track bike for a good 10+ years as a working courier.
  16. They're called Freds......... and they're weird.
  17. disagree, ernie. throw a disc on the rear, 808 on the front, it'll look good. that top tube to head tube transition is hawt.
  18. Schwalbe Racing Ralph. Also good job count and joke-man.
  19. Joker, have you ever experimented with high protein diets? Like, the Paleo diet maybe (which is conveniently gluten free)? I did it for a little while in the winter and dropped some lb's, although at my weight I don't have a whole lot to lose before I start losing top end power. I really don't think Schleck can take Contador in the TT unfortunately... :(
  20. ugh. i wish we had a non-aero category in oregon. i want to give fixed TTing a try.
