  1. damn the history in here... and that ai friendman in portchester is still open its beyond wack now... how times have changed...

Yeah, i can imagine. Technology is way different. back in the day they had these huge bulky cameras that covered 1 isle. All you had to do was slip into the one next to it, and you were good. Today they have cameras the size of your hand that can see almost half the store. I couldn't imagine trying to rack these days.

  2. Are you talking about the huge Met piece at the INC tunnels? I remember that piece, damn nice even after someone wrote over it with a marker (which was another piece of drama). Met was better known for bombing, and it's funny... someone called that a simple, but that was a piece for back then. I vaguely recall Met doing a piece of someone else's name, like a girlfriend?

That Caldor is quite storied, esp among TVT. It was a great spot, but so heavily racked you could rarely get good colors there. Lots of Jade Green, Mauve, Rose, that kind of thing but I never saw Hot Pink or Baby Blue there. AI Friedman is still there, but I don't remember it for spray paint at all. They got really sharp and had security. Yeah, there was a lot of drama back then, it took some energy to keep yourself out of it sometimes. In my recollection, much of 914 was bombers and lots of beef (childish, of course). Bone is doing well the last I heard, drop me a PM.

Yes that is the Met that i was talking about. That silver he did with the thick black outline. That piece really was slamming. I remember it had pastel yellow, and hot pink looking designs in it.

You are right about Caldor. In the early 90s they had those exact colors that you mentioned (the krylon, new for the 90s colors). Later on around 94 they switched to Rustoleum (only the Stops Rust line). The colors that i was referring to (Jungle Greens, baby blue, etc), was at AI Friedman. Crazy to hear that store is still open. They had a rack of Krylon in the back of the store near the markers. This was back in 89 which was the first time that i was upstate, and found it. You are right about the security, but we used to get over like crazy back in those days (as i am sure many many people did). If you went in there on any given weekend you were guaranteed to run into writers. I remember the marker isle was bombed! Everyone at the time was up. Mez, Ces, Jest, Nes, Cromag (RIP), and even guys from the bx like Elf MPC (RIP), and Fayde. It was only good for a few cans, but the markers was the get over.Aside from the nice bombing markers they had every damn color of the original Designer line. Those things lasted forever. We used to wear a pair of sweatpants (which would be tight at the bottoms) under our jeans and just drop tons of markers down the front.

Good to hear about Bone. I wonder what some of those guys are up to from back then.

  3. wow that kem wall is sick is that the same wall vet and ces had a halloween calabo on not to long ago or am i mistaken?

That looks like a wall that was up near New Haven CT, but i could be wrong. Bel would know. BTW. This is a nice little production.

  4. I don't have anymore Met filx. And I also had some problems with TVT in 1992.

My friend got fucked up real bad or not telling them where I lived.

Yeah Met pieces were very rare. I remember a total of 3 or 4, not including this one right here.

  5. I believe WCK was Westchester County Kings. Funny because around the same time there was a crew in Danbury FCK- Fairfield County Kings.

That's funny. Yeah, WCK. That was Jents crew. I remember it was a lot of INC, VCR, and TVT dudes in it. Jent might be able to do the roll call on that one.

I wish that i got into CT more back then. There was no such thing as the internet, and only a couple of mags out so you didn't know who was doing what, and where. I think the only CT writers that i knew existed back then were the guys that would come through Westchester, and the BX. Guys like Emit, Gaze, Eroc (RIP), Eros, and Kem (not the same Kem that paints with Ges. At least i don't think it is). After a while i started to hear about you, and your crew amongst others.

  6. met3746456.jpg

    Met in Danbury CT 1990.

He let me take this pic.

    Bone TVT was there also.

Ahhh. So this is your photo. I've seen this one get around. I have a few old Met pieces. One of his best was off the New Haven line. Really nice silver. Funny. I had beef with both Met, and Bone back then (those guys had beef with quite a few dudes). It was actually with Bone, but those dudes always rolled together. I think it started because of a spot at the bike path. I remember we used to go to Port Chester to rack there. You had 3 great rack spots side by side. There was a Caldor, an art store called AI Friedman (they had the best Krylons back then. Jungle Green, Baby Blue, Pastell Yellow, Hot Pinks, etc), and a Pergament. I met some writer in Friedman's and we were talking. He told me he did a spot the week before and 2 dudes rolled on him. One had a bat and asked what he wrote. They thought he might be me, but they put the bat down when they realized he wasn't. Years later (and i mean years) I wound up meeting Bone. At that point we laughed about the whole thing. We wound up having beers, and kicking it. He threw me down with TVT, and we became friends. I would love to talk to that dude today. Haven't talked to him in a good 11 years.

Speaking of Met, did you ever flik the piece he had at those Mt Vernon tracks (same as the Jent & Vet wall)? I remember being in front of a piece he did, but for some reason never got pics of it. When i went back his piece was ragged. There is a nice simple Noble piece that was on that wall which i took pics of. You can still see remnants of the Met behind it.

  7. Oh word?

    jentoldschoolvet.jpg

I dug deeper into my hard drive...

Looks like it's your pic too.

wow. you must have really dug deep. That's back when i had a scanner. I always had a crappy flick of this wall, which is why I was curious to see if you had the Jent (that Vet you posted was really good quality). Unfortunately this pic doesn't really do this wall justice.

These guys were 2 of my biggest influences back when i used to write. I was amped when I saw both of them do this.

  8. miss seeing those Poets light up Harrison-Larchmont... there's still a few small tags of his on the line

That's good to hear. Poet was getting real nasty before he stopped. Did you ever see his last piece he did on the Mt Vernon tracks in 1991(same spot where Bel posted that "Old School" Vet on the page before)? This huge Poet burner. that whole wall was pieced up. Ceme, Ches, Fact (both had a black background. Facts had a white outline with lightning. was crazy) Mez (Mez had a face to the right that Jent helped him do) Nerd, Dryp,Cycle (was the first time i had ever seen or heard of him)and Sub had started something with a mouse character that he never finished. That was before him and Emit did that popular wall that was in Video Graff there. All of those guys used to burn when they got down.

  9. RYZE had some high tags in the village around that time, but i never saw much more down here either, guy was great in boston though. and speaking of trying to find 238th, SOR traveling a bit up to the bronx...who remembers whose backup name this was?

    5329771457_b77f73e4bf_o.jpg

(not westchester but i figures this was one of 2 places anyone would even give a fuck)

Who was this? I never saw this. Cool piece.

  10. My homie hooked up with Nerd's Ex wife recently..

    Small world.

What you know about TMC she said..

    lol

    Hah..yeah, small world.

Nerd represented for a long time. Looking back i give guys like him, and Cromag (RIP) a lot of credit. They were trying to do something different back then. Seemed like most guys coming out of New Rochelle were trying to go for the same look as Vet, and those dudes were experimenting with their own style.

I remember that me, and my man thought that Nerd's crew VCR was a new crew started by Vet when it first came out. We thought it stood for Vet's Crew of Rebels haha. It wasn't till later that we found out that it was Vicious Crime Rebels.

  11. Yeah, Mamaroneck & Harrison.......

    You got it.

    Remember Zork & Sneb?

But of coarse. Little Zork. He had good handstyle, and simples. Sneb was killing it for a while. When i think of him it reminds me of guys like Bone, Met, and a lot of the old TVT guys. I remember that Zork,Poet, Ches, and Mez had simples right on 95 near Rye across from where that Metro North work house is. Also, Zone TVT had an actual piece that ran on the highway for some years that was really dope.

  12. Also i need to correct myself. Originally I said that there was a Part piece on that wall (not Part tds) when those guys went over it. That Poet is where the Part piece was..If you look under it (talking about the Mez, Poet) you can see there was a piece outlined in red. Above it says "Part oner is rising above. That was the only thing that i ever saw from that guy, but it was funky.

  13. poetnes009.jpg

    poetmez.jpg

    You know it..

Jesus dude. That's the Mez that was still running with that Vet, and Meda. That Poet had gotten dissed by a toy, and then Mone did a piece over it. You really have a lot of gems man.

Also that Poet up top with the Nes..I remember seeing that but can't remember where. Was that one of the bridges between Mamaroneck and Harrison?

  14. 22342.jpg

RYZE 5AV & BEL IOF @ Mt. Vernon NY 1990...........

Damn dude. I forgot about this. This bugged me the fuck out when I first saw it. I remember seeing the Bel (nice). At the time i didn't know your history, but i knew that Ryze was from Boston. I had seen his stuff in some mags that were out. It was the most random thing because (as far as i know) this was pretty much the only thing that Rize ever did in Westchester. No other pieces, tags, or anything, anywhere. I don't even recall him ever doing anything in the city for that matter.

  15. 1990r.jpg

Memories I tell you. Great post.

When this wall was done it was the talk of the town. Fact did this piece in 1990. He wrote "1st" next to the character because it was his first one that he did. To the left of this was a Poet piece, and to the right was a fresh "Comic" piece that Mez had done.

If anyone cares about the tags up top:

To the upper left you see a "Sha TPA - Step Off Toys". That was another name that Aloe TVT wrote back then for a short time. Also there are Monte, Vein, and Kent FBI tags. FBI was this dude Mine's crew. Monte was a dude down with INC. Vein (who also spelled it Vane), got up more then these dudes hitting highways, and such. To the right of the Vein tag you can see a Dek, and King tag. These dudes were going over people's pieces with wack tags (as is evident by the pic). The King tag is over Jase TMC. If you look all the way to the right you will see that Jase wrote a message to these dudes saying " Dek You're gone you fucken toy".

Anyway, great stuff Bel. This brings back names that i totally forgot about. Thanks for sharing.

  16. Elet and those guys did not go over this fwiw

These were the pieces that I had mentioned. I used to live in Westchester. I took the train 5 days a week into the city and passed these walls. ALL of the pieces that were mentioned were not dissed when they were gone over.

Like i said before, they were younger kids and probably had no idea who they were going over.

  17. yea...but u remember what they went over? a mone and vet from around 1990 if i remember...extremely wack and honestly a shame no one went over this on that principal

    Hey Rope:

This particular wall went over a silver Has and Sec that Vet did in 1987. It was a bit faded but still in really good shape. If my memory serves me correct (the older i get the worse it does), there was also a Mone from 92, and an old Fact there as well.

I think the wall you are thinking about was the next stop over. These guys also did big pieces like this. That went over:

    1. A Vet piece from 1989

    2. A Mone from either 92 or 93.

    3. A Nerd piece from 1989

    4. A "Meda" piece that Mec did the same night with Nerd in 89

    5. A Mez piece from 1990.

    6. A Part piece from 1990 (wasn't the real Part TDS, but it looked pretty cool).

I believe that those were probably the oldest running Vet pieces (and quite possibly the last) in Westchester at the time. The guys that went over all of this were probably too young to even know (or care) who any of the above guys were. I guess nothing lasts forever.

  18. I am looking for a pic of the Ill piece that was in the beginning of this strip. It had a brown outline if I remember correctly, no flick!

If anyone has the complete strip all the way to the Wae or it may have been a Sham please post that joint up!

    Tore TM7!

    Big Tore,

Did you guys ever finish this? I remember being in front of this with camera in hand, but i didn't flick it because all of the pieces didn't look finished.

  19. i read something a few pages back about a TDC book coming out...

I had heard a rumor about that myself a while ago. That would be great. I'm sure those guys must have a lot of gems laying around that most have never seen before.

I found an interview with DC3 back from 1993 in which he said "I moved to Seattle for a while. I started writing on freight trains and buses as there was no subway system. I think the new development of writing on freight trains is logical – moving on from subways. Now it’s All Country (LA to NY) instead of All City!".

Zed. Have you ever seen a DC3 freight? I know i haven't. That would be really fresh!
