  1. Fortunately it's just a shitty font called (inappropriately) Brooklyn Kid. And it's old as all hell... but I guess as long as it looks "urban" it's cool by Altoids. But you've got to respect the general ad scheme those guys have going over there. As for selling out: I'd rather see my friends get paid than some honkey in a suit.
  2. Re: Get this!........... Totally off the subject yet strangely related... I've spent a whole 4 hours in Japan on a lay-over but they've got some crazy shit there* in english that makes zero sense. It's just cool to have a shirt that says something like "John Wayne Rock & Roll Football Nascar House" as long as it's in english... so I guess it could apply to tats. *For more examples of this—affectionately called "engrish"—check out ENGRISH.COM.
  3. The Smiths "Hatful of Hollow" The Smiths "The Queen is Dead" The Smiths "Louder Than Bombs" The Smiths "Rank" The Smiths "Singles" Morrissey "Kill Uncle" Morrissey "Viva Hate" Morrissey "My Early Burglary Years" Morrissey "Best of..." Maybe I should come out of this closet now...
  4. one-liners of doom. that's a good 80° hotter than most...
  5. I feel like my 19 year old sister talking about this shit but.... Best parts... The White Stripes thanking the Olsen twins and The Hives "I know you want us to play more..." The Hives vs. The Vines bullshit. What the hell? That's like putting Slayer up against LFO... no contest...
  6. A few pertinent comments... 1. Yes, there are quite a few core skaters left. Teams like Black Label and Innes are all about it. And there's a ton of low-key kids that skate because it's more than an X-Games THPS4 money maker. My friend's shop in Rochester is down for life. www.krudco.com It might make you feel better about things... 2. There is an odd connection between skating and graff. Go watch Dogtown & Z-Boys. Then there's the whole punk rock aspect too. I think writers like Giant can vouch for that. 3. DC put out not only a limited edition Shepard Fairey shoe, but also an equally limited Kaws model. Not the best things going but still all right I suppose: For all us art fucks out there. DC is pretty thugged out anymore, them and Osiris are just a little too "bling bling" for me. 4. Vans is a double-edged sword. You've got the mainstream crap they put out that falls apart after 4 days and then they have the good stuff that takes a beating like no other shoe out there. Take the new Jeff Rowley shoe... grippy, sensitive, durable. It's those or Emerica's Kirchart's. Always. 5. I'm 26. 15 years of that has been spent of a skateboard. I'd like to think I know what's up... but feel free to disagree.
  7. And that Nosferatu night was a lightning storm too...some spooky shit. That movie will bug you out worse than any of that Anne Rice shit.
  8. http://yosh.nerim.net/bonnasses/437.jpe'> Yo, you hear that new Pink joint?! That shit is OFF THA HOOK! I'm feelin' it cuz I'm mizzundastood too!
  9. Fucking hell, boogie hands my man... you've reaffirmed my faith in humanity. A little bit at least. So, for boogie (and anyone else who might watch movies for more than tits and ass) let me direct your attention to The Dryden Theater in Rochester, NY. It's part of the George Eastman (as in Eastman-Kodak) house and has one of the world's largest collections of films. Scorcese stores his entire library there. They show original prints of films... both common and not-so-common. Here's a short list, off the top of my head, of what I saw there: Metropolis (with live piano accompanyment) Nosferato (with live piano accompanyment) It's a Wonderful Life Flesh Gordon (not flash for real, ultra-slick) Blade Runner Lolita (the 1962 version, aka: the only one worth watching) Just about every Buster Keaton film and short that still exists EVERY Chaplin film that exists... the highlight: Modern Times Beggars of Life (Louise Brooks—with live piano accompanyment) Fellini's 8 1/2 Reefer Madness The Cool and the Crazy A Streetcar Named Desire Westside Story.... the list goes on. So fuck you Vin Diesel. www.eastman.org
  10. Kids go and read one Steinbeck or Dos Passos book and it's all over. Trust me, I speak from experience. But I still have that youthful idealism on my side... ha. I'm still young, so maybe I'll have second thoughts yet. And everyone know you don't talk ploitics (or religion) in a bar... espically those Irish ones. Wait, wasn't this thread about hopping? Let get back to the subject now, kids, and save this political stuff for channel zero.
  11. Try Rand McNally's Handy Railroad Atlas of the United States at any major bookseller. It's a good first stop. And take the time to study that bastard like it's your best friend's girl... it's also useful for finding those out-of-town spots. It's pretty, well, handy. KaBar said it best... the more you study, the better off you'll be. Damn, all that knowledge and a Wobbly to boot. Very nice.
  12. Don't front on Discordance Axis. They will crush you... enjoy your fishing,
  13. That handstyle is flaming... I mean, on fire.
