"After dashing away from the precinct at around 10:30 am, police pursued Thompson to the St. George Ferry Terminal. Cops shut down the ferry terminal and halted the Staten Island Railway until the suspect was recaptured, and called on "aviation units and blood hounds" to track the man down. You can listen to police radio transmissions of the arrest on the Advance website. Once inside the terminal, Thompson jumped from ramp onto railway property, injuring his ankle. He sought refuge in a train car, where police apprehended him, brought him back to the precinct, and hit him with an escape charge.

According to ABC, Thompson was scheduled to be arraigned today on charges of first degree armed robbery for stealing $1,200 and cigarettes from a Staten Island deli in a Dec. 13 stick-up. This isn't the suspect's first attempted escape. In July, Thompson was charged with assault, grand larceny, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and resisting arrest when he threw a two-month-old pitbull at an officer who was trying to question him about a stolen car. The puppy, named Stone, bit one of the cops in the face, but assisting officers cuffed Thompson. He was out on bail for that incident when the Dec. 13 robbery occurred."
