oh word, good etch will have the same effect if its layed on thick and not yet wiped.

 

True. Any acid (battery, glass etch, w/e) will probably do the same if it's cheap steel.

 

*NERD ALERT*

The acid on the steel creates a weak 'battery' and corrodes the steel. Like you said, if the etch is thick, ie concentrated enough, it will really get in there. I also think that rain water would speed up the process.
