In the article, dFunk poses the question of "do you think what you do is art" and Eggs replies in kind that no it's not and that art is something completely different.
So what exactly is art to him?
Personally, I think if dFunk would have thrown in "an" right before "art" in the question, it would have changed the question drastically. Instead of looking at the "product", they would be looking at the overall process of graffiti: picking your tools, scoping spots, trespassing, pulling off the job, getting out safe, etc.
If that was the case, then fuck yeah, there is an "art of graffiti" just as there is an "art of programming" or an "art of making friends". Some people are inherently good at some types of art-forms while others have to work their ass off to get to even a mediocre level.

Riku first put up the sticker on a lightpole. Ansiq then wrote on that sticker at a later date (I'm guessing without the original artist's permission): notice the slash through the Q that carries onto the pole. Seems like an odd compromise between a sidebust (oops, I said the S-word) and going directly over Rikaru's name.

Not that anyone would give a shit, but I'm a fan of Kasto's stuff as far as TST goes.
While others may be trying to evolve (mostly lower-case letters to all upper-case letters) Mr. K holds it down with simple fills, clean outlines, and color schemes that catch the eye.

Slightly off-topic but apparently, the Madison-Lenox Hotel is now completely demolished, or so reports detroitblog. The reason why I bring this up is because of what DB stated in his post:

I have never been in the MLH and might've passed by it once or twice but my question to you out there is: how bad was the graffiti? Was it inside, outside, just local toys? Honestly, if Kwamster was to use graffiti as a reason to tear down buildings then half of Detroit would be torn down.
Who wants to be the first start tossing up conspiracy theories as to why he mentioned graffiti? Oh, and check DB's previous post stating that the demolition was just Kwame being a dick.

Aside from some spats maybe 30 pages back, this thread has generally kept it positive. Lots of flicks being posted, mostly new (a few old old shots which everyone loves) but nothing really recycled lately.
And you're right Squrrl, Motosoul turned into a beef-fest before it's last reincarnation which is one reason why no one except me and about 5 other people frequent it. I give some credit to idea tryin to maintain it but it's in sad shape, really. I'd help if I could but honestly, I can't.

Heck if I know. It's been up there ever since I've been going to that spot (which is only a year at most). Any of the A2 writers would be more knowledgable as to when it went up. I just put it up there for shits and giggles.
