Anthony Collao, 18, attended a birthday party in an abandoned home for two friends in Woodhaven that had been advertised on Facebook. According to police, there was a $7 cover-charge for party attendees. Later in the evening, five uninvited gang members crashed the party and refused to pay the $7.

The party crashers then started trashing the home — breaking windows, writing anti-gay slurs on the walls of the home and also started yelling anti-gay slurs to Collao, 1010 WINS’ Carol D’Auria reported.

Callao’s cousin said he sensed trouble and decided to leave the party. That is when he was chased, slammed against a car, and beaten, stomped and kicked, police said. His friends told the gang members that Callao was not gay and had a girlfriend, D’Auria reported. It is unclear why Callao was targeted.

Four suspects — Alex Velez, 16, of the Bronx, and Nolis Ogando, Christopher Lozada and Luis Tabales, all 17 and from Queens – were arrested soon after the Saturday incident. A fifth suspect remains at large.

They suspects were arraigned Monday on charges of manslaughter and assault in Queens Criminal Court and were each held on bail of $100,000 to $200,000.

Collao was on life support following the beating until his death. Callao lived with his family in Bethpage. The family runs an ice cream shop in Queens and moved to Long Island three years ago.

A recent high school graduate, Callao was going to follow in his father’s footsteps and work in an ice cream shop.
