This is not a bad idea, I don't care what side of the fence your politics are on. Seriously though, check out Wackenhut Coporation some of their facilities have manufacturing/assembly companies built in part of their prison building. Gives the prisoner an opportunity to make money while incarcerated. Still gotta pay taxes of course but I do not recall what the pay per hour was.
