KILZ FILLZ
I like finding the weird tweaker houses on Zillow and playing “eye spy” with the shit in the pics they choose. here’s the first link so you can play along. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/5615-Market-St-San-Diego-CA-92114/17087760_zpid/?utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare this place looks like it’s about to fall over. astro turf, upside down mountain bike, pile of used tires, broken down cars in the yard. Off to a good start!! Two TV on in living room, weird stain / wear patters on floor in front of couch (?) half way painted bedroom wall, another weird stain on floor… burn maybe? ourdoor washer/ dryer, looks like old washer broke down and was just pushed aside, balcony about to collapse from more tweaker bikes etc Someone just cut a hole in the floor for a spiral staircase?? You can still see the layers separating floor/ceiling, odd paint choice on stairs, random stack of dvd and the cherry on top…. Get a load of this shower head. Is that a beer bong with a water spigot attached? im hoping these screen shots aren’t pixilated to hell

mr.yuck
I love this for a thread. My wife and I sometimes look through the multimillion dollar listings in our area to see who has more money than taste.

KILZ FILLZ
Something kinda surreal to do is zoom out the map to cover the entire US, set no max price limit, and sort from high to low. @mr.yuck who the fuck is shopping for $35 mil mansions on Zillow??? Lol

morton
The agency in charge of keeping track of properties for taxation is called the Assessors office. In the general case it is easy to find a "GIS" map for a county and from there get a copy of the "Assessors Report" which will contain all sorts of interesting information about a subject parcel, such as room layout, sales prices with dates and names, current tax bill, historical photographs, records of permits pulled etc. The San Diego County assessors site and parcel look up is pretty much the worst I have ever seen and to add insult to injury they expect for you to pay some private fuckers a fee to look at a report. https://assr.parcelquest.com/Home/Details/0 There is another gis that looks to be a non profit or something that has some nice data organized but not enough https://sdgis.sandag.org/ But, check out your local assessors, once you get the hang of it hours of fun can be had researching properties. 1
Dirty_habiT
We kept the sale price off our land off the records on purpose. Tons of buyers fuck this up royally.
Dirty_habiT
The state has no business knowing about my private negotiation with the land owner to buy it. It's just a way to tax your property higher through negligence/ignorance on the buyers part. At least that is how it is in Texas. 1 1

Dope thread idea @KILZ FILLZ I'm always looking around Upstate NY at the market prices, weird, and most expensive shit that pops up. Like this renovated church for $3.15 million. Imaging the heating bill for this bitch in the winter! https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/73-N-2nd-St-Hudson-NY-12534/2111421185_zpid/

Is this on a state by state basis - of course Cali fucks you….. We did some remodeling few years back - added a fully permitted 1bdr converted from detached 2 car garage. These fucks assessed and increased my annual property tax by 1k.

I think it is a state wide thing. The people scraping money for effectively doing nothing don't like the idea because it stands in the way of their continuous pay checks. The only way to get away from that kind of thing is go to a place that cares about Americans more than money. Places like that are becoming a rarity. 1

This is an iconic and definitely weird house in the Bay Area - I have been aware of it since I was a kid, when we would drive passed it on the freeway we would call it the Flintstone house. Back in those days it probably went for maybe 400-500k versus its current cost of 3.8million lolz. If we’re doing crazy out of place houses I have to nominate Indianapolis Kessler Mansion For some real context on this thing you should type it’s address into google street view and walk down the street and look at the other houses on the block.
