Cases go up (###) in 24 hrs” is a headline I see often. Now I’m just thinkin out loud- How many days does it take for symptoms to show? How many tests are available immediately? How quickly are test results coming back? Hear me out-how does the number increase dramatically in 24 hours if it takes 2-14 days for symptoms to show and (if your city has tests available for you) results can take a few hours-few weeks. Now what I’m getting at is Las Vegas opened and reported a dramatic increase of numbers in 24 hours. So what you’re trying to tell me is-that ### people had immediate symptoms, were able to get to a dr, get seen and tested and have results back OVERNIGHT ? this headline happened In a number of cities Idk but in that specific case I don’t see any of the tourists going to a doc in Vegas, but instead waiting til they get home. Then their counts would increase their city’s number. Not sure

MitchThe$nitch
Took a brief trip to Nashville to see some family heading back early. The mayor of Chicago announced while we were gone that anyone visiting hot spot stayed (TN is one of them) must quarantine for 14 days. For me not a big deal, I work from home anyway. My wife’s work called (she works in the medical field) and they know she’s out in TN and went her to use 2 more weeks of vacation to quarantine. Thus we’re cutting the trip short. I honestly was apprehensive About coming out here anyway and being around people but went through with it. We haven’t gone anywhere or seen anyone besides the family we’re staying with so I think it’s relatively low risk. ugh...

Hua Guofang
Yep, we're doing our best to avoid a second wave here. Reading Austin and surrounding areas are running out of space for bodies. I fear that shit is going to get real ugly in the US over the next month or two with the fatality count rising dramatically.

Hua Guofang
This goes back to some of the discussions had in this thread, and I'm not even sure of the second part, regards ongoing impacts. Just the 1% (which is under-rated) is enough to grab attention as well as flesh out the point that not shutting down will end up with a fucked economy anyway: Edited July 13, 2020 by Hua Guofang 1
mr.yuck
I just had a friend get released from a 9 day covid hospital stay. He said one of the first questions they ask when he showed up was how have you been self medicating. Apparently people that have been taking advil for their fever and other symptoms related have been in noticeably worse shape than those that have taken tylenol. Hua Guofang
There is so much unexpected shit coming out of this virus: Seems antibodies might only last about 3 months Likely to have lasting effects on brain health Is able to reproduce and populate the host to the point of being infectious before the host shows symptoms Extremely infectious due to the make up of the protein spikes

This thing is extremely new, we're finding new things out about this virus damn near every day. Some people that have been recovered since April are saying that they still get winded doing basic tasks, even though they feel fine otherwise. I'd rather not risk it if I don't have to. 1
Hua Guofang
Absolutely. The people who carry on about it being no worse than a cold literally do not know what they are talking about because nobody does. Fucked if I want to take a chance with it, especially having a kid in the house. We might think that they are largely unaffected by it, but that's based on current knowledge, which is extremely limited.
