I don't think it's people "acting like retards"..... I know exactly what you're trying to get at though @Kults  You probably know what I'm going to say..... this is highlighting people acting like their normal shit head selves.  Normal people that plan ahead do not do this kind of thing it's hive mentality that makes the majority make decisions as if they're a herd.

They say humans are apex predators in the food chain but I would venture to say that there are levels within the human race too.  Some people are sardines mentally.

i said it...people in power are going to monetize off the poor

the poverty-industrial complex includes the deregulated capitalist ideal of "hard work is a virtue in and of itself"

meaning, the poor getting a generous amount of money to stay healthy would be a sin against capitalism

Am I being a dick for saying they have a point? What is the incentive to work when you get paid more for staying at home. Real problem here is what they did for corporations, though I dont know the specifics. Two wrongs don't make a right. What a shit show... But have come to not expect shit from any of them.

Most of America does not make $600/wk in pay.  That is fuckin ridiculous.  You're going to have people that don't know how to handle their money WILDIN THE FUCK out with $600/wk.  I sure as shit don't want to pay the extra in taxes for this.  I DO, however, think that something temporary should be done.

This brings me to my point about the jokes of "how much money does it take to get a trump supporter to turn socialist?"  The punchline is $1000.  The thing that is missed by people not thinking far ahead is that the money is not a permanent thing.  It's not, "from now on you get paid $1000/mo" or anything like that.  It's a one time deal that will add a ton of debt to our account.  Socialism would be if we permanently switched over to giving "the poverty stricken" $1000/mo and had to pay the recurring debt by way of high taxes.  I absofuckinlutely would move out of this country if any "leader" ever tried to make that a reality.

No, I don't know where I'd go, but I'd do it so fast their head would spin..... along with many others.  I'm not saying that from any certain "vantage point", I'm saying that would be a deal breaker for me and the country that I love.  It can't be a good place if the leaders in charge ruin it.

being forced home, laid off, and not earning any money by the government is 1 thing

but then denying them a relief fund that, like @Dirty_habiTsaid, would be temporary is, i believe, just straight cruelty

relief from being evicted, paying bills while jobless, getting medical care and basic necessities is a job that the government should be taking care of

there will not be a vote if the people are all dead

This is actually an ongoing issue that is being exacerbated. I know people in real life that refuse promotions, raises or extra hours because it puts them in a new bracket that then cancels other social assistance. So since the raise or promotion is only incremental, it makes more financial sense to not work the extra hours or accept the promotion so they can keep getting the hand out.

Fucked up, but its a real thing. This sounds like that on steroids.

And indeed... Two trillion dollars is about 10% of the existing national debt suddenly being added on in attempt to fix this one single situation. A huge investment to be sure. The same people screaming for it, will be the same ones parroting back the statistic that Trump added more to the national debt than any other president in history.

Another crazy way to look at it is somewhere around 5% of global cash, 2% composite of cash and deposited funds.

https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/wealthy-couple-return-from-skiing-with-coronavirus-then-do-not-self-isolate-20200325-p54du5.html

A Melbourne couple infected with COVID-19 while on a skiing holiday in the United States have been the subject of repeated police complaints after they allegedly flouted advice to self-isolate and visited shops and a golf course on the Mornington Peninsula instead.

A wealthy finance industry figure and his partner were two of about a dozen Australians believed to have contracted the coronavirus after attending a social function in the exclusive alpine resort of Aspen, Colorado, earlier this month.

The Age and Sydney Morning Herald have been told by multiple sources that at least two other Australians who attended the event refused to be tested in Aspen because they were reluctant to interrupt their ski trips.

The couple, whom The Age and Sydney Morning Herald have decided not to name for legal reasons, returned to Melbourne on March 6 and four days later were informed by Victorian health authorities that they were at high risk of infection because of the outbreak in Aspen.

Australian authorities had issued an order at the end of January for people to self-isolate for 14 days if they had been in contact with a coronavirus case, but mandatory self-isolation for all overseas travellers had not yet been enacted.

This couple were asymptomatic and did not self-isolate immediately on their return from the US. They only got tested on March 15 at Frankston Hospital, a source said. The woman was the first to test positive to COVID-19 and her partner tested positive two days later.

The two were advised to isolate from the public and are understood to have stayed at a property in Portsea. However, sources say they were soon spotted at shops in Sorrento and a nearby golf course.

Three complaints were made to Victoria Police between March 17 and 19 but it is unknown if police took any action. The Age and Sydney Morning Herald have spoken with the complainant, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, who said he had spoken twice with an officer at the Rosebud police station before he was referred to a special hotline that had been set up to monitor those placed into isolation.

Under Victoria's state of emergency declaration on March 16, it was mandatory for returning travellers to self-isolate.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said she would not comment on "individual spot checks or reports of people breaching self-isolation".

Both members of the couple declined to speak on the record, and it's not suggested they were in fact responsible for transmitting COVID-19 to others. But their appearances in public have ignited a fierce backlash, particularly among parents of students who attend the same private schools as their children.

A source close to the woman said she had not breached any quarantine obligations and claimed the couple were the victims of a smear campaign by "bored housewives".

Paid sick leave just means he gets his normal amount of pay while he's sick.  I have paid sick leave and paid personal days and paid vacation days.  I basically get paid for 40h every week no matter what happens and that is no different than the situation described above with Ted Cruz... he just has a higher salary than me.

I see no problem with him getting paid sick leave in the role he holds.  And I'd think someone is a bit weird if they didn't want me to get paid sick leave for the role that I hold.

Also, that he holds an elected office at taxpayer expense. If his constituents are upset abut his salary or conduct, can't they vote him out?

Supposed to work like that anyways.
