So it's unusually warm for this time of year, record breaking?

Nevermind, holy shit:

December 16th, 2019:

Australia is sweltering under record-breaking temperatures as an extreme heat wave continues to sweep across the country, causing wildlife to die and fruit to cook from the inside out.

The past four days are in Australia's top ten warmest days on record, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology said in a tweet on Wednesday, with all of the country's eight states and territories affected.

South Australia's Port Augusta hit a scorching 48.5 degrees Celsius (119 F) on Tuesday, the highest since records began in 1962, according to CNN affiliate Nine News. The town of Tarcoola in South Australia reached a sweltering 49 C (120 F).

Elsewhere, temperatures stayed well above 40 C (104 F) and the hot weather is expected to last until Friday. One town in northwestern Australia, Marble Bar, suffering through 22 consecutive days of temperatures above 40 C, at one point almost reaching 50 C (122 F).

Animals are starting to desert their young in the thousands because they’re too week to care for them due to the heat, drought and bushfires.

things are a bit grim here in places. My town is brown and dead-like right now. Even the weeds are dying. Can’t remember the last time it rained for more than a couple of minutes.

yikes. heading through Port Augusta ( PortAgutta as all south Australians call it) next week.

it hit 50c on my driveway in January this year.

not sure if it's a particularly bad year of a natural cycle or the first steps in a new normal but the weather down here is so fucking changeable.

one day it's 44 degrees and then a week I'm running the heaters to keep house warm.....literally this happened last week.

Throwing out 97% of experts in exchange for 3% of experts is always an option.

If your grant money depended on it wouldn't you toe the line too?

Did you watch it?

'97% Of Climate Scientists Agree' Is 100% Wrong

Where did most of the 97 percent come from, then? Cook had created a category called “explicit endorsement without quantification”—that is, papers in which the author, by Cook’s admission, did not say whether 1 percent or 50 percent or 100 percent of the warming was caused by man. He had also created a category called “implicit endorsement,” for papers that imply (but don’t say) that there is some man-made global warming and don’t quantify it. In other words, he created two categories that he labeled as endorsing a view that they most certainly didn’t.

The 97 percent claim is a deliberate misrepresentation designed to intimidate the public—and numerous scientists whose papers were classified by Cook protested:

“Cook survey included 10 of my 122 eligible papers. 5/10 were rated incorrectly. 4/5 were rated as endorse rather than neutral.”

—Dr. Richard Tol

“That is not an accurate representation of my paper . . .”

—Dr. Craig Idso

“Nope . . . it is not an accurate representation.”

—Dr. Nir Shaviv

“Cook et al. (2013) is based on a strawman argument . . .”

—Dr. Nicola Scafetta

Think about how many times you hear that 97 percent or some similar figure thrown around. It’s based on crude manipulation propagated by people whose ideological agenda it serves. It is a license to intimidate.

Don't feel you have to If don't feel like it, no rush. I do find it interesting though.

Here's a BBC doc about Climate Change, or Global Warming like we called it in '07. It's a little dated now but the production value is pretty good and the interviews are solid. Still relevant to the current debate society is having.

Just posting in here as it's weather relevant, not claiming either way a connection to CC - if you can compare this map to a know distance, give it a go. These are just two of 70-something fires burning in Australia at the moment - I belive that fire in the Wollemi National Park is as big as the Andomeda galaxy (posted a pic beloe for size comparison):
