Roaches didn't scattered there if the lights came on. Literally refused to budge even if you swing at them, and if you got comfortable in there they would climb up onto you out of intentional disrespect. Every apartment building in NYC older than 10 years has roaches, but NYC's public housing roaches were on a different level.
