Mercer
Have to agree on the bacon thing. I'll only fuck with high quality specialty bacon, but even the cheap sausages at the grocery store are still good. Most regular store bought bacon kinda sucks.
mr.yuck
All this bacon talk got me to thinking; I like bacon and I like steak, but I've never had a bacon wrapped filet that I like. I don't know if applebees has just never prepared it right or what the deal is.

To be fair 99% of the "real" bacon out there is probably made from animals pumped full of meds in factory farming and a ton of flavours and preservatives etc. added afterwards, one could argue this goes against the spirit of healthful eating as well 1
NightmareOnElmStreet
Corporate farm pig and cows are so fucked. That said, so is every other thing on a grocery store shelf unless you shop at some fucking hippy co-op and pay 12 dollars for a chapstick at the check out register. Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s are no exception. I love those places but it’s so ridiculously over priced I rarely go.
morton
If your goal is to eat well and responsibly it gets complex pretty quickly. I just wanted to take a pot shot at the topic, these new fake meats are the food industry pitching their same old bullshit, imo. 1
One Man Banned
IMHO Trader Joes and Whole Foods are almost total shit wrapped in a very thin veil of being "health food" stores. And as I've said before on here, that salad/hot bar Whole Foods has is a public disease bath- yech! Hog farms create a literal shit ton of pollution that permeates the surrounding land and threatens to spill into waterways. Where/when I can I do try to go to local farms for meats/dairy, places where you can see the process, the numbers, the treatment, etc. It does cost a little more, but you get fresh product that's a bit more humane, healthy, and environmentally friendly. Support your local farmers! 1
Mercer
I never really rate by who owns the store or brand name, more or less how locally sourced each item is itself. I fucks with Costco heavy. Food Value Tiers: Grown & raised yourself Shook hands with producer Local cash only & no sales tax Corporate premium organic/local Diabetus juices & industrially processed
One Man Banned
Somewhere in there needs to be a subtier for 'fucked the farmer's daughter' and another allowing for theft from some of these tiers. I only steal organic.
Mercer
I think I've said it before, I harbor unusual levels of hatred for whoever invented modern organic peanut butter. All that oil and shit separates from the concrete mix. Bread gets all torn the fuck up & greasy. I'd rather have Jiff or Skippy and take my chances with salmonella. Fuck organic peanut butter.
mr.yuck
You just gotta remix that shit every single time you pull it out man. The whole jar too. Not just the top your gonna use. The oil to peanut butter still gonna be all off.
nicklesndimes
honestly might try the freshly ground peanut/almond butter from the health food store, the kind that you sort of crank out of a machine and pay by the weight. it sounds bad the way i am describing it but i think it might be actually pretty tasty.. it would be a first for me. but truth be told i am usually just crunchy jif or w/e, even generic.. morton
I like to start with smooth Skippy and then top with some whole Virginia peanuts and eat open faced on toast. 1 1

fat ralphy
Trader Joes is actually more affordable than the general grocery store, at least here is the Bay Area. TJ’s has some fire too - don’t sleep. I copped 3 bags of groceries recently and the shit came out to 80$ which is unheard of these days most anywhere.
