People that actually understand, and want to stop/reverse climate change tend to be on the left. The left today also has a lot of pseudo Marxists, that by definition have an irrational drive to always want to punch up, until it eventually makes everyone is poor like every time Socialism is put into practice. So with that said, it's more than acceptable on the left to go after big oil. At the same time, the left also wants to have their cake, and eat it too, so low key they don't want to be associated with any increasing gas prices, because it directly affects the people their class war is intended to favor. Ultimately cheap/affordable gas prices, and climate change agendas are at odds with one another. If you're really about climate change, you should own this fuel price inflation like "yea, gas prices are high, problem?". This price jump has done more to slow down gasoline use, and climate change than if they moved the Keystone pipeline someplace it was safe to, or shutdown extraction on public lands. All the major "wins" against big oil ultimately only drive the price up in slow increments, that they're OK with because it's not noticeable enough to tie to their agenda, or obvious to the economically illiterate masses. A massive contradiction between fuck the poor, and fuck the planet that is on par with shit republicans with "muh freedoms" & "come and take it" stickers next to "bootlick the blue" & thin blue line flag stickers. Not gonna lie, as a practicing Agorist, I sort of figured something way worse than this price hike was going to happen pre-pandemic. Supply chain for gasoline/diesel remarkably fragile, every shortage in NYC from tropical storms, strikes, and hurricanes clearly illustrated that to me. Agorism is about understanding the counter-economic war we're in I've positioned myself with an all electric option that admittedly did cost me a little over a bitcoin, but now costs less than $5 to fill all the way up now at home. The only effect gas prices going up has on me is cleaner air, I drive as much as I please, while most people struggle to make it with this shit. With that said, it would be super poor taste for well off liberals, or me to flex publicly like "not me, I'm not effected". Champagne Socialists even had a "just buy a Tesla" mantra that's been rightfully shut down.
