Just got this a7ii in the mail off eBay today. My other one burned in a car fire a couple months ago. 1500 worth of accessories. Got the 55 prime on this for 1100. Not a bad deal. I’m hoping to actually use it more the second time around and post flicks. 18E8C28C-4AFD-4D4F-B45C-1B6BA740A676.thumb.jpeg.8ba8959dd87026800af7a326e73b2aa9.jpeg

Started off w Canons but wanted higher resolutions and frame rates so went smaller and mirrorless w Sony A6300. Shit felt like a toy, battery life trash and it overheated while shooting skating in the summer in 4K. Board shot out, hit the lens and that camera was done 1st try. Was bumming it off my iPhone for a bit but copped the Panasonic GH5 because I wanted the best(budget friendly) hybrid camera at the time. Something that shot great video and something with photos a couple jumps up from a smartphone. Also was my first jump into Micro Four thirds from Full frame/APSC which I was kinda iffy about.

I have a metabones EF to Micro43s speedbooster to use my Canon glass on it.

Im rocking with a Sigma 18-35 1.8, Sigma 70-200 2.8, Rokinon 8mm Fish and my everyday carry, Canon 40mm Pancake. Looking to cop the Sigma 50-100mm 1.8 (~1.3 w/ speed booster) soon.

Has anyone seen the new BMPCC 6K?! Shit is a beast and only $2.5K. Don’t “NEED” it but cmon.

Maybe not the right thread, but let's see...

I am trying to take action shots of bike racing. I'm up close to the riders so i'm using a wide angle lens. Currently I have it set to AI Servo, using the lowest ISO possible but that shifts depending on where I'm standing, shutter speed fluctuates between 1/500 and 1/800, and I think all that is working, but the issue I'm really having is focusing my eye. I have to wear glasses to see anything within two feet of me. and when I bring the camera up to my eye no matter what I do to focus on the subject it still looks blurry... glasses or no glasses. And if I use the screen to focus I have to hold the camera quite far away and then who the hell knows if I'm getting a tight focus.

Is there an auto-focus setting for sports photography? I'm assuming no but figured I'd ask. And if not... any thoughts on how I can solve this problem?

I don't have the camera in front of me but I'm pretty sure it's the Canon Rebel xs EOS. I know, I know... some old-ass shit.

With sports photography the action moves too fast. Reason you often see sports photographers with several cameras is that they are manually focused to specific areas they're capturing. What you want to do is decide what crop you want and have a subject go and stand in that location. (mark it if you have to or use something like a mark in the road or manhole cover as a reference point. Start with an aperture setting that gives you enough depth of field to allow for some play, usually a couple feet at least (you can look up the depth of field for each f-stop in the manual or a PDF white paper for your lens online). Then from that set shutter speed and ultimately compensate with ISO to get the exposure you want. Once the action enters the frame you rapid fire the shutter. All will be in focus and from the captures, you can find one that captures the pose / action that looks best. That's basically how its done.

Def agree with this.

To add to this - regarding your focusing issues - there should be a little dial by your Electronic View Finder.  It's called the Diopter Adjustment Control and it helps you adjust you EVF focus to accommodate your eyesight.

Also, maybe clean/wipe your camera sensor, front and back glass of the lens and even your EVF..

Hope this helps. Peace!

@Joker

if you do not feel comfortable using manual focus try switching the Auto focus to Continuous instead of single

set your focus point where you want the subject to be and pan the camera with your subject.

your a little restricted due to the technology in your camera but similarly I have an old nikon D80 (as a back up) that is pretty similar to your camera and I can still get some pretty decent images out of it.
