What *12ozProphet* product / feature / etc would you like to see?

Slowly but surely I'm getting some groundwork completed in regards to 12ozProphet. As you guys probably already have read, I've been focusing almost exclusively on 12ozProphet for at least this last year or so. I've still got a ways to go, but feel there's some foundation now with the forum being pretty solid for long enough to prove its stable, with the new site - a very much streamlined version of 12ozProphet that goes back to focusing on 12ozProphet itself and especially new projects / products, as well as a recently released book, new tees and lots of small projects that I'm fine tuning and releasing that'll pave the way for a much larger concept I've been steadily building towards for quite a while.

Anyhow, I just wanted to hear you guys out a bit on what you think and what you'd like to see in the future. I have a pretty solid idea of what I'd like to do and where I'm trying to take it all, but also interested in getting some feedback and suggestion from you guys. Most especially from those of you that have been around long enough to have been a part of the heyday when we were putting out books and stuff back in the day, as well as the brand new guys that just got turned onto to 12ozProphet and just getting into what we're doing now.

Thoughts, opinions, suggestions and questions welcome...

I think it's set up pretty well, but I really don't know any better. I don't fuck with fb or ig at all, or the internet too much anyway, but I do come here on the regular to check shit out. Keep it up I'm excited for whatever comes next. :sunglasses::sunglasses:

We need more: boobs, tic-tacs, vandalism.

General content.

Mods are your front line, would try to have them more active posting.

Newer people have no idea about back in the day shit when the mail order biz was one of the main ways you could find out what was going on in other states/countries by getting a book or mag you couldn't find in the store. There wasn't even online graf stores like now, not sure how you impress the magic of snail mail on the current crowd. Then again, the free stickers the other week was a great idea to bring that sense back.

Yeah, porn. That seems to get the punters in.

jokes aside, the graffiti will always be the most important part of this place for me. I dig on the 0 and all but its the graf that matters.

Reading the first post made me want to go dig out my old magazines and go through them for nostalgia's sake.

Appreciate the suggestions from you (and @Hua Guofang). Just curious... You literally want to see the return of tic-tacs or some sort of more robust 'likes' system?

Will talk to the mods about posting more, but everyone knows that this is all a labor of love and nobody is getting paid so hard to push anyone to put more time and energy into it.

I definitely agree with the statements regarding content.

This thread gave me a flashback, and having moved some stuff around recently knew where to look, so sharing back. First cool thing I noticed, some of the flix in there sure look like they could have come from yours truly, feel like I did hook you up with some pic packs back in the day.

For the newer peeps here's what I was talking about. You got a fresh poster on one side but the other side was all this cool ass mail order shit that was really straight from the underground, by the underground type shit. There was no Amazon, Barnes & Noble maybe had Spraycan Art and Subway Art if you were lucky. No social media, and web sites were only just starting. The mags were really where you saw everything and copped everything not in your immediate area.

You see I still got those German books!

I honestly don't care about tic-tacs but so many people did/do, and the story behind that was fascinating too given that people became so invested in it. Regardless of reason, it seems to have meaning to Oontzers who still ask about it so maybe something to keep in the formula. Not the most pressing of things. Likes are cool for me because I notice people are more likely to give them than comments (you all been trained by socia media, you monkeys!) and it gives me some idea of what people are into/looking to see when I'm posting flix or out getting them.

I'm not knocking the mods in any way and hope I'm not giving that impression. This is about how do you get others, regular oontzers, to post more, and how to maximize what's already at your disposal. My thinking is lead by example, but it also shows you have a team, a core, that puts into the site. Sorry to say this, but people are followers more than they want to think they are, and sometimes you have to show them the way for them to follow.

Perfect small example is that almost everyone on here walks around flicking shit with their cell phone all day and posting it to IG, FB, whatever, and if each of those people took just one of those photos and put it here each day this would look like a pretty active site with very little effort. I know people have lives and shit, but you're literally holding the means right in your hand and you're already performing the actions, just not here. I've made similar comments before, people agree, but don't change the behavior.

I do think I still have a ways to go to improve the UI for mobile usage. It works decently right now, but with everything tailored for mobile, I have a ways to go to meet current day expectations.

I also plan to start promoting the forum more regularly. Posting to the @12ozprophet stories section with a couple shots from the forum each day and a link to swipe up and view more that goes to the forum will likely help a bit.

Beyond that I really think its about people rallying together and just getting people involved. It starts to build on itself at that point. I've heard a lot of people say that forums were killed by social media, but honestly I still see it as nearly the same thing and if anything, I do feel people are a bit past the novelty of the super quick consumable crap you get off IG. I think there's always remained a desire for deeper / richer experiences and content and more lasting dialogues and discussion. I think this is why you still have sites like Reddit and 4chan flourishing despite the social platforms like FB and IG. I expect things to start recalibrating more in the direction of that longer form type social engagement and still think if I can streamline the process of viewing and interacting on mobile devices it'll help encourage growth on here. Just a lot to take on myself, especially with all else I'm trying to do with the shop and products and all that. Havent given up yet though...

Agreed. This is why, in part, that I post so much on here. I think people will tire of social media because it is mainly pic whoring and 2 sentence posts. You have a great thing here because people can post shit fairly anonymously, within the culture, and you can see shit full screen, and we're not talking full size 4" screen, ridiculous way to view a piece. Beyond that, there is a lot of discussion that needs to occur within the graf community that you can't do on IG or whatever. Staying hopeful.

Sounds like your plate is full but let's make it a buffet- can we get some Oontz emojis? We need like a funnel going into a butt, some bloody tampons, maybe something that conveys tits or GTFO, maybe a wolf whale ;)

How do you guys feel about making the actual comment listing private? For a long while, 12ozProphet required you to be logged in to actually view thread content. You could look at the forums list and the topics list inside each forum section, but to view the content (comments) you had to be logged in.

I removed it when we had all the registration / login issues, but seeing as how thats a few years in the past, maybe its time to do it again. I've noticed we've occasionally had as many as 100 people lurking and maybe 3 logged in. Obviously being logged in is a step closer to commenting and participating.

Thoughts?

In theory sounds kind of right but then I occasionally pass through without logging in. I think some sites allow you to see partial content or something, kind of like a teaser? Although on the other hand, if you do something like you mentioned about tagging some photos or putting links to some of that on your front page then they've already had a little something to get them curious.

a scroll bar that is actually visible would be nice, but i don't want the forum to crash for another year so idk.

Can you please elaborate? Unsure what you mean.

That said, I've been investigating an entirely new platform I'm considering moving the forum to. Has a lot of great stuff built in that I think everyone is going to dig. I'll start filling everyone in on as I get closer and make a decision on whether its worth the move or not, but yeah... Its looking really promising. That being said, if you haven't seen my part 2 "Weigh In" thread that sort of discusses the forum and the issues in pretty great detail, I suggest checking it out...

if the little part that you grab with your cursor was highlighted, instead of recessed into the same colored background, it would be easier to find, especially in threads with long pages, and especially when there are reflections on the screen.

Got it. I’ll look into it, but I’m wondering if that’s actually a browser feature that’s made worse by the fact that our site is shaded of gray and most user interface elements are also shades of gray.

That said, there’s a lot of changes I’m looking into, including maybe redoing the entire platform as you can read about here: http://forum.12ozprophet.com/threads/weigh-in-has-the-social-media-revolution-devolved-conversation.148220/

Adidas collab

track suit would be nice

north face collab also would be baller

carhartt jumpsuit in khaki and black...so I can dress up as a ghostbuster

TNF is definitely on my wish list. Know a bunch of people there and did a lot of work for Timberland, which is the same parent company so hoping once I have more momentum established with the brand that I can pitch a concept that makes sense.

I made my own camp hats bought from delusion manufacturing

I want to get some unstructured 6 panels also....I'm gonna put the 12oz patches on them

Been working on caps but having a tough time sourcing it domestically and also finding someone willing to do custom fabric on short runs (less than 144 pcs). I'll get there, but definitely high on the priority list. And you already know where I'm going with all these patch releases.
