Nothing...and I mean nothing, beats a really great beer. Newcastle is my favorite. Ruddles County Ale Harp Export Lomza! Polish beers are great. Woodchuck the darker the beer, the better, but I don't like Guinness. German black beers are good. I haven't had one I didn't like yet. As far as cheap shit, Piels is the best. Pabst is great, of course. American beers are garbage. TT put me on to Sleeman's, which is good. I think it's a little too light, but a good beer. I rarely drink hard liquor, but I like Bloody Marys.
