It's a commitment, but read the book. There's much more depth and a lot of wild shit goes down.

I have a signed copy kicking around from a random meeting in a bookstore; easily my favorite work of his.

Not my favorite, but I agree that the book is way better.

I did not like the movie that much, because I read the book first.

I think a lot of the reason that it factors into my favorite is nostalgia.

In terms of story/content/theme all that, I think The Shining is his best work. I also have the recent one about the Kennedy assassination on my shelf waiting to be read. It's apparently more sci-fi thriller, but I've heard it's one of his best from a purely literary standpoint. He's a great storyteller, but his writing isn't always tops.

I've (surprisingly) never read The Stand, but word is that's basically his masterpiece.

The Kennedy one was ok. It was too long and needlessly stretched out parts for no reason.

My favorite recent one is Under the Dome. My all time favorite is the whole Dark Tower series. "It" has part of that in the end of the book, with the turtle.

I have read the Stand twice. It is a long read, but worth it.

For a made for TV movie IT was fucking great. I re-watched it recently too. I was like 10 or 11 when I first saw it, Tim Curry is fucking scary as hell, perfect casting. I've been meaning to read it. I've also hear The Shining book was better.

It was. The shinning movie is a classic, but the book was definitely scarier and better. I reds it in one day, because I couldn't put it down.

The Shining was a good movie, but it lost so much of what made the book scary. It just made Jack Torrance into a generic movie monster; book was more nuanced and frightening.

King is definitely a fluffer, so I'm not surprised a book as thick as the Kennedy one has some filler.

/Nohomo for "fluffer" and "thick" in the same sentence.

Fag^

I have read a lot of his books. I might have missed 2-3.

There are some that I just can't get thru because I get bored. But there are some I can't put down.

I just watched this for the first time tonight.

It was pretty good. A lot more of an actual movie than what I assumed.

It's funny how I've never even seen this movie, yet I always tell my oldest when he has nightmares to just buck up and punch the shit out of the monster and they'll get scared and fall back.

Which was more or less the jist of this movie.
