eviltrailer77
Does this stand a chance of becoming a reality, is it feasible, will the manufacturers even let this happen? Discuss...
CILONE/SK
I think this is a great idea. Downside: the companies will make the parts for it, cost more then phones cost today. They don't give a fuck about waste and the planet, they only care about profit. If it makes a profit, they will make it. If not, they won't. BloodyWishes
Definitely a cool and noble idea, but I'm cynical in thinking fucking kids these days having anything recycled. They need the newest, brand named, neon, over the top shit. Not just phones, kicks, clothing- everything. No "swag" factor to this phone, therefore no sale. Guest
that would be dope. i would get one and a bunch of different blocks to set my phone up for different situations
eviltrailer77
That's what I was thinking, a reconfgureable phone for any occasion. I don't know if this a profitable business model, but I think hipsters/hippies would love being able to lord the "green" aspect over their little friends. Plus if this does make it to the market, the individual parts could eventually carry the same clout that new phones do now, like "Check it out, just picked up the new ultra HD screen"

DRUNKEN-ASSHOLE-ONER
Great idea, but I have zero faith in capitalism allowing this to go anywhere.
CILONE/SK
Great idea, but I have zero faith it will have a app to find a real cheesesteak. Of course

eviltrailer77
^^^ Thats all well and good, and I know there is money to be made reclaiming precious and simiprecious metals. Workers in some facility in the US/EU doing it with proper protective equipment, environmental controls and Industrial Hygienists monitoring the process is great, more power to em. But the sheer volume of the waste stream is either too great for those types of facilities or they limit the types of waste they process due to profitability issues. Those facilities are worlds away from an Indian street urchin doing it in a shantytown, sacrificing their lives in the process.
